Title: Ryusei yori Dango (Boys over shooting stars) Season 2
Author: Masuhisa
Pairing: Matsumiya, Ohmiya, Sakuraiba, one-sided Junma, slight one-sided Sakumiya
Summary: In the 1st season, we left of at Jun leaving for New York. Nino was offered a job as a chef for a renowned family in New York. So when the two meet after a year, what Matsumiya-ish stuff would happen?
Disclaimer: If I was older than Kitagawa, I would have gotten to them first!
Note: I don’t like writing OCs, so the other characters will just be Johnnys.
Chapter 13:
Nino stared out of the windows as he watched the houses and trees flew by, not really paying much attention to the scenery outside for his mind was focused the afternoon’s happenings.
“Matsumoto-san,” he remembered himself politely greeting the lady who had stuck her nose into his love life on many occasions.
“What can I do for you” was what he clearly heard her said in a tone full of disdain.
He vividly recalls what happened in the spacious office of Matsumoto Kaeda, but now doubted that the man courageously standing before the current president of the Matsumoto World Finance Group was actually him.
“Please take Jun back,” he pleaded sincerely, ready to do whatever it takes to let Jun regain his rightful position of the next heir.
“Why should I” was the cold monotonous reply.
This was the moment. The moment he dreaded yet was doing everything he could for it to happen.
“I’ll stay away from him and the Matsumoto family, you’ll never see me ever again,” Nino whispered to the winds, but loud enough for Kaeda to smirk.
Now on an Osaka bound train, Nino replayed the scene in his head over and over again, wondering if he had made the right choice. But what was done had been done, and there’s no way he could take back what he said. A cheap bentou box lay open in front of him, untouched and cold.
Functioning as a mirror for Nino.

It was barely autumn, but the temperatures where that of winter. Jun made his way back from Sho’s place after having a long, deep conversation with his childhood friend.
“Sho, do you think I have what it takes to protect Nino,”
He asked, lying on Sho’s bed, staring up at the blank white ceiling.
But his question was left unanswered, as he phone started ringing, the persistent caller: ‘old hag’.
Jun wanted to ignore the call, but figured it had to be something so important, that that old hag of his would take out time from her busy schedule to call him.
“What?” he snapped, the moment his phone was beside his ear.
“Is that how the future heir of the Matsumoto World Finance Group should behave?” was the question thrown back at him.
‘Heir of the Matsumoto World Finance Group’, a term which sounded so alien to him, although it was just that morning which that title was stripped from him.
“What do you mean?” inquired Jun, feeling elated yet doubtful.
“If you don’t want your rightful position, I’ll be glad to give it to your brother,”
That was the sentence which got Jun moving.
The first person he broke the news to was Sho, simply because he was beside him at that time. The next most logical person to contact would be Nino. If the old hag decided to take him back, it should mean that she has finally accepted his relationship with Nino.
Wanting to give the latter a surprise, Jun immediately set off, too excited to even bid Sho farewell. But, instead of surprising Nino, Nino was the one who surprised Jun.
“He quit,” was all George-san had to offer him.
That’s strange. Nino’s passion for Japanese Cuisine would never allow him to quit his job at George Clooney.
Feeling that something was amiss, Jun dialed Nishida, asking him to check if Nino was at the mansion. Sadly, Nino’s room was the way it was before Nino starting living there when Nishida entered.

“I’ll do my best,” assured Nino as he bowed to the manager of the new restaurant he would be working in.
It was a small two-storey restaurant with an open air dining area which faces the sea. Little fishing boats bobbled up and now in the ocean and seagulls littered the beach. Nino didn’t know how he got himself posted here, but he was certain he is not going to like the place, despite it being his first time to a beach.
He was due to start work the next morning, but his body just felt so weak and drained, partially because of the long bumpy train ride, but mostly because of the weight on his small shoulders.
Staying away from the Matsumoto family was going to be a piece of cake, since the affluent Matsumoto family would never visit such a dirty little fishing town. But Nino had this strange feeling that he won’t be able to keep his promise to Kaeda.

“We found him,” said Sho, getting straight to the point when entered his room.
“Where?”
Filling Jun in on the details of Nino’s location, both of them made their way to the helicopter pad just behind the Sakurai Mansion. Waiting at beside Sho’s private helicopter was Ohno, giving the two a sloppy grin.
“Thought this might come in handy,” said Ohno, pulling out five credit cards and a wad of bills, handing them to Jun, “since your cards have not been reactivated,”
Jun smiled in gratitude, graciously accepting Ohno’s help.
“And this is from me,” said Sho, gesturing to the helicopter, “the pilot has already been informed of the location,”
Jun nodded, signaling his thanks as he boarded the helicopter. He watched his friends retreat to a save distance, as the pilot slid the doors shut. Jun wasn’t one to express his appreciation easily, being the mighty and once stuck up heir he was, but seeing Sho and Ohno standing as close to him as possible without getting in the way of the helicopter, waving at him and giving him the most encouraging smile he had ever seen, Jun couldn’t help but mouth ‘thank you’ to the both of them. Not just for the money and the transportation, but also for everything else they have done for him without him even realizing.
