[Prologue] [Chapt 1] [Chapt 2] [Chapt 3] Chapter 4:
Kazunari’s head slowly emerged from his make-shift snugly cavern of comforters and pillows, his arms stretching as he did so. That was the first time he had woken up without an alarm clock and didn’t have to rush off the moment he got out of bed.
Lazily, he pulled a bathrobe over his striped blue pyjamas and wandered around his enormous room aimlessly. It was only when he spotted Masaki’s ‘peace offering’ when he recalled the incident which happened the night before.
As he slowly unwrapped the gift, Kazunari tried to figure out why Jun was so cold towards him and then nice for a while before turning mean again. But after a whole lot of thinking, he only theory that he could come up with was that Jun was just plain weird.
Trying to take his mind of Jun, Kazunari inspected the present he had received from Masaki - a baby blue Nintendo DS. A grin crept up onto his face. He was about to charge and play it when he heard some noises coming from the corridor. His curiosity getting the better of him, Kazunari plugged the device into its charger and went to check out the source of the noise.
When the came to the corridor, he was surprised to find it empty. He was about to turn back when he noticed that the door to the room opposite his was ajar. Without thinking, he pushed the door open and walked in.
The room had a really classy design, making Kazunari’s jaws drop in amazement. Awestricken, he continued his ‘tour’ of the room. Soon, he came to the study room. For some unknown reason, he decided to take a quick peek around.
On the study table, Kazunari found some magazines about houses, jobs and transportation which came by mail.
“So this is how your name is written,” said Kazunari to himself as he lifted the closest mail, reading Jun’s name, “looks pretty nice,”
“Thanks, but I’m more concerned about what you’re doing in my room,” came a cold voice.
Kazunari dropped the mail in surprised as he turned due to reflexes. Standing by the doorway, leaning against the door frame with his arms folded across his chest was none other than the occupant of the room Kazunari had wandered in. Jun had a scowl on his face as he eyed Kazunari with disdain.
“I’m sorry,” Kazunari blurted out as he tried to hurry out of the room. But Jun was quick. He managed to use his bigger frame to block off Kazunari’s only way out before the trapped Kazunari could get anywhere near the door.
“What’s the rush?” he asked in a sarcastic voice, grabbing Kazunari’s chin, jerking it upwards, forcing Kazunari to look him in the eye. But his plan of using his death glare to intimidate the smaller man back-fired immediately as the same feeling he felt the night before returned.
As he stared into those terrified hazel brown orbs, Jun felt himself being absorbed deeper and deeper. He was almost on the edge of losing control of himself when the sensible part of his brain managed to snap him out of the trance he was in.
Disgusted at himself, Jun pushed Kazunari away, causing the shorter man to stumble backwards.
“Don’t tell anybody about what you just saw,” said Jun coldly as he stepped to the side to allow Kazunari to pass, “get out,”
Kazunari didn’t need to be told twice. At the speed of light, he zoomed out of the room, crossed the corridor and dived under his bed, trembling in fear.
Kazunari would have stayed under his comforters for the rest of the day so that he could avoid Jun, but a pair of footsteps came his way, followed by a nice voice calling his name.
Recognizing the voice as Sho’s, Kazunari decided that it was safe enough to come out from his hiding place. Slowly sliding the comforters off him, Kazunari saw Sho standing in front of him with a big smile on his face.
“Good morning, sleepyhead,” teased Sho, grinning down at him, “if you’re done sleeping, hurry get changed and meet me at the lobby,”
“Why?”
“I just thought that yesterday’s outing didn’t go as well as I hoped it would, so today is to make up for it,”
“Where are we going?” he asked
“You’ll find out soon enough,”
With that said, and another bright smile, Sho exited the room. Kazunari immediately hopped out of bed and ran for the cupboards, grinning excitedly at Sho’s invitation.

“Here we are!” announced Sho as he pulled his red sports car up by the road side. Both of them getting out of the car, Sho ushered Kazunari to the nearest quaint looking shop.
The shop turned out to be a small restaurant. A waitress brought them to a table by the window before leaving them with the menu. As Kazunari eagerly scanned through the menu, he was completely oblivious to a pair of eyes eyeing him with great interest. Sho’s smile became broader and broader with each exclamation of how delicious the food looked or how cheap they were.
Their food arrived within minutes after they ordered, leaving Sho and Kazunari little time to talk about anything that came to mind.
“It’s so good,” exclaimed Kazunari as his eyes lit up when he tried the stir-fried noodles, making Sho laugh at his adorable animated expression.
“You know, you’re the first person who enjoys eating at this place,” said Sho, helping himself to the food in front of him, “most of them wouldn’t even dare to enter or would sit up so stiff they looked like a pole,”
“Why?” asked Kazunari out of curiosity, “the food is good, comes in large portions and is totally worth your money,”
Sho could only chuckle at Kazunari’s assessment of the restaurant. That was the first time he felt so carefree, not having to worry about the Ninomiya cooperation, not having to be so prim and proper, Sho felt so relaxed that he could not help but say out loud, “I’m so glad Lord Ninomiya chose me instead of Jun to go undercover,”
Even though Kazunari was busy enjoying his food, his sharp ears heard what Sho said, “Why? Was Jun supposed to go instead of you?”
“If I hadn’t gone to Ichinomiya High School, I wouldn’t have met you,” answered Sho after taking a sip of green tea, “Actually, everyone thought that Jun would be the one to go,”
“Why Jun?”
“When the four of us were brought to the Ninomiya mansion to be trained as successors of the Ninomiya cooperation, Masaki, Satoshi and I were so terrified by Lord Ninomiya that we didn’t dare to even look at him. However, Jun didn’t seem afraid by Lord Ninomiya’s aura of power and simply looked him in the eye. Lord Ninomiya must have already decided on Jun at that time,”
Kazunari nodded his head. So Jun was already so rigid when he was young, that must explain the cold attitude towards him.
The rest of the meal was spent laughing at the time when they signed up for the air guitar competition and when Kazunari had to dress as a maid so that Sho could prank his grandfather.
After the meal, they went strolling by the shopping district, popping into random shops to see what they had to sell. They came across a Neoprint booth, and when Kazunari commented that he hadn’t tried taking neoprints before, Sho ushered him inside and inserted the right amount of coins.
No matter how much Kazunari protested, Sho insisted (using the fact that he had already put in the coins and it would be wasting money if they backed out while ignoring Kazunari yells about turning the coin return lever) that they took pictures together.
Peals of laughter could be heard from the booth as the two of them did all sorts of random poses in front of them camera. There was one of them flashing a peace sign, another of Kazunari using his fingers to make bunny ears above Sho’s head while the taller male showed off his bulging muscles. The third picture was Sho poking Kazunari’s cheek, and for the fourth picture, Sho pretended to use the photo as an excuse to do something stupid, and boldly hugged Kazunari around his waist while somewhat forcing Kazunari to place his head against his muscular shoulder.
When the photos came out, Sho used the scissors and divided them between the two of them. Then, when he was certain Kazunari was looking, Sho placed the photo of them hugging inside the transparent compartment of his wallet, making Kazunari flush a deep shade of red.
Sadly, the sun began to set and Sho received a call from Nishida, saying that Lord Ninomiya want to have dinner with the five of them that night. So unfortunately, they had to conclude what Sho thought was a date and what Kazunari thought was an outing and head back to the mansion.

“So you were the one hogging Kazunari all day!” exclaimed Masaki as the four met up in the billiards room for their weekly game of billiards, “I was going to play Mario Kart with him!”
Sho could only smile at the look of dismay on Masaki’s face.
While the two bicker, Jun looked his two friends, his hatred for Kazunari growing. Everything had changed ever since Kazunari showed up. Everything started because of him! What had he done to deserve to be toyed with by the Ninomiya family?
“Jun’s pissed,” whispered Masaki to Satoshi, poking the eldest to get his attention. Sho, Masaki and Satoshi could only watch as smoke came out of the youngest’s ears. They knew from experience that when Jun really wanted to throw a temper, he really wanted to throw one and it was best to stay far away.
Jun’s face continued to scrunch up in rage as reasons after reasons as to why he loathed Kazunari flooded his head. The reasons piled up sky high that Jun’s tolerance seemed to have snapped. Placing his wine glass roughly on the bar, Jun stormed out of the billiards room and made his way to Kazunari’s room.
Without even knocking, Jun flung the door open and stomped inside. On his way there, he had planned to grab something, anything, and finish Kazunari off. He didn’t care if he would have to go to jail for murder, he just couldn’t tolerate Kazunari any longer. But when he got to the bed and saw Kazunari sleeping peacefully with a small smile on his face, the dictionary which he had grabbed on the way to use as a murder weapon fell from his hands and landed on the carpeted floor with a loud thud.
Strange, bizarre feelings assaulted his chest as he stood there staring at the sleeping figure. His mind turned blank as he watched Kazunari breathe in and out against his pillow.
Why? Why did he have to feel his way whenever he was around Kazunari? Jun wasn’t stupid, he knew what those feelings were, he felt them before. But why did those feelings arise when he’s with Kazunari, why does it have to be him?
On the verge of losing it, Jun ran out of the room and across the corridor to his own. Hiding under his bed, Jun clutched his heart as it thumped painfully. Shutting his eyes tightly, Jun tried to deny that it would be so much harder to despise Kazunari.
