In the morning Hyukjae woke up last and felt a pounding headache coming on. He rolled over and threw an arm across the mattress Donghae had been sleeping on. Even though Sungmin had made them sleep next to each other, he didn’t get the chance to wake up right next to Donghae as he actually had wanted to.

Loud laughing voices reached his ears and didn’t really help lessening his headache. Groaning, he sat up and followed the voices to the kitchen.

“Hyuk, you’re up!” Sungmin beamed and jumped up from his chair to get him a cup. Donghae didn’t even bother to look at him and just took a sip from his coffee.

An awkward silence filled the kitchen and Sungmin mentally slapped the both of them for being so dense.

“Yah, both of you are free today. Why don’t we go out?”

Both Hyukjae and Donghae opened their mouths to say something, but were cut off by Sungmin before anything slipped out. “I won’t accept any ‘no’s or other excuses, so we’re going.”

The younger males didn’t say anything, because the bitch Sungmin would become when he didn’t get what he wanted wasn’t anything they ever wanted to experience again.

“I’ll use your shower.” Donghae said curtly before standing up and making himself at home to freely use the bathroom.

Hyukjae and Sungmin were left alone as Donghae disappeared into the bathroom, and the redhead immediately dropped his head onto the table.

“How’re you feeling?” Sungmin asked with a small smile, slightly enjoying the sight of a hung-over Hyukjae.

“Awful. Don’t ever give me any alcohol again,” the younger replied, pursing his lips into a pout.

“Sorry Hyuk. I just wanted the two of you to loosen up a bit yesterday. I miss hanging out with you two together.” The disappointment in the blonde’s voice made Hyukjae feel a bit guilty. He raised his eyes and gave his friend an apologetic look

“I’m sorry our sucky relationship affects our friendship, Min… I would be lying if I said I don’t miss those times the three of us had together.”

Sungmin heaved a sigh and continued drinking his coffee. “Just do me one favor for today.” Hyukjae nodded for him to go on. “Try at least to act like you’re friends.” Sungmin held his head down, as if he felt bad for saying it. “I know it’s kind of selfish when you two can’t agree with each other, but I just want to enjoy one day with my two friends. Please?”

Hyukjae met Sungmin’s eyes and gave the latter a smile. If Sungmin felt sad about it, then he definitely wanted to make it to for him.

“Would you stop it?!”

“I’m sorry…”

“What? Since when do you apologize?”

“I have manners. I’m not as rude as you are.”

“Manners? What about that time you - “

“Guys!”

Both Donghae and Hyukjae turned their heads to their friend who had stopped walking, looking with an exasperated expression to and fro the two of them.

“Would you please just cut it out?”

“Sorry Min…” The redhead backed up to stand by Sungmin’s side and hooked their arms together. “I forgot…”

The latter just shook his head and continued walking. The married couple walked on each side of Sungmin and didn’t say a word until they reached the restaurant Donghae had recommended for them to eat at. Silence still surrounded them after they had settled and ordered their food.

Once the waiter set Hyukjae’s plate down on the table, Hyukjae smiled brightly, thanking the man. The smile was returned before the waiter left. Hyukjae started to eat his food while Donghae shot him a glare and scoffed, making the former look up.

“What?” He definitely didn’t like the way the brunette was looking at him.

“Why are you flirting with the waiter?”

Hyukjae let out a sigh, clearly tired of being accused for cheating and flirting with others.

“Stop being so stupid. I did not flirt; that’s the manners I was talking about.” He replied with a low and firm tone.

“Yeah, right.”

Hyukjae stopped arguing, because he felt Sungmin grow uneasy next to him, and continued eating. Donghae stopped his rude behavior and merrily picked up a chat with Sungmin, proceeding to ignore the redhead to the fullest. Hyukjae didn’t mind, because as long as they didn’t fight he wouldn’t feel bad. Sungmin obviously wanted him to join their conversation, but Donghae became quiet as soon as he joined.

Their plates were empty and Sungmin and Hyukjae were still having a conversation while Donghae played with his cell phone. Once again, the waiter was back to clean the table of plates and utensils, and politely asked how the food was. Everyone except Donghae replied that it tasted great - and Donghae didn’t miss that Hyukjae flashed his big, bright gummy smile again, and even the waiter seemed to smile wider this time while giving the redhead a small wink. Hyukjae almost blushed and he looked away as his smile fell.

Sungmin pulled them all out of the restaurant when he felt that the atmosphere was getting tense. Donghae walked behind as Hyukjae and Sungmin planned on what they should do afterwards.

“You know what…” Donghae then stopped and so did the other two as they listened to what the youngest had to say. “I’ll just go back home.” Hyukjae rolled his eyes while the other exclaimed loudly.

“What? No!” Sungmin pouted while childishly stomping his feet. “Hae! I wanted us to hang out the whole day.”

“I wouldn’t have minded that, if Mr. Flirt-with-me hadn’t been acting so…flirt-ish.”

“I. Did. Not. Flirt. With anyone! Can’t your little fish-brain even get that straight?” Hyukjae was so tired of this shit. It hurt being accused of that over and over, but he knew that in Donghae’s world he deserved it.

“I know what I saw Hyukjae,” Donghae said and gave him a sharp look.

Hyukjae shuddered at the glare and he felt his legs grow weaker. “I know what I saw”. Those words were so familiar, and he remembered how Donghae’s hurt face turned into the cold one he now wears every day. Right after Siwon had left the apartment back then, Donghae immediately confronted Hyukjae about it, telling him that he saw what happened.

“Did you see everything?” Hyukjae asked carefully, and jumped the moment when Donghae spat at him.

“Do you think I would stay to watch him sully that one person who is supposed to be held only by me?” Hyukjae saw the glossing tears in Donghae’s eyes. “Why would I want to see someone else fuck the person I’m married to?”

Hyukjae gasped quietly as he looked at his husband.

“D-Donghae, he didn’t t-touch me lik-“

“Do you think I’m blind?!” Donghae yelled furiously.

“I only did it beca-“

“I know what I saw Hyukjae. Don’t deny it.”

“But Donghae-“ The glare the brunette gave him quieted him in a second and he watched how Donghae walked out of the door and didn’t return until hours later.

Until today, Hyukjae still wondered why Donghae never had wanted a divorce and it confused him a lot.

Donghae had already left when Hyukjae recovered from his flashback, noticing he was being dragged by his arm by Sungmin and they were almost back at the latter’s house.

---

"Here you go," Sungmin said softly as he handed a cup of steaming tea to Hyukjae and went to get a cup of his own before settling down on the seat opposite Hyukjae at the dining table. The sun was already setting, and when Hyukjae looked at the pink-orange mixed clouds outside the window his thoughts somehow ended up in thinking of Donghae. Neither of them talked about him since they had parted after their lunch, and it surprised Hyukjae a little, since Sungmin had tended to talk about him and Donghae a lot lately. Just after they got back, Sungmin texted Donghae and the respond told him that he was busy, and from there didn't answer on any further texts. That had been all.

It felt nice spending some time with a friend on his free time, someone he could relax with properly. Hyukjae chuckled as Sungmin told a story of all the times he had caught their boss embarrassing himself as a sudden ringtone rang through the room.

They both stopped their conversation and turned to the ringing cell phone on top of the kitchen worktop and Sungmin shot up from his seat to pick up the device. A small whisper of "Siwon," slipped out of his lips as he watched the screen with a fond expression before excusing himself to answer the call. Hyukjae felt an odd feeling inside his chest as he heard the name. Suddenly, he felt like he had an obligation to tell Sungmin about his little “experience” with Siwon. But his heart ached at that thought. Just by looking at his friend when seeing the soft smile and eyes once Sungmin knew who the call was from, so Hyukjae felt as if he was going to ruin something if he told his friend. He sighed and rubbed his temples.

In his heart, Hyukjae knew Siwon wasn't really that much of a bad person. Even if he was the person who had made his relationship with Donghae become rotten like this. He should feel angry at the other man, but instead he just felt the necklace around his neck sag and become heavier. Everything felt even more messed up.

"Hyuk, are you feeling alright?" Sungmin was suddenly back in the kitchen, and his eyes’ expression was changed from fondness to worry as he noticed his friend's pale face.

The younger male nodded, but still found himself being pulled out of the kitchen and into the living room where the three mattresses still lay on the floor and was pushed down to sit. He realized first after picking up a pillow to hug, that he sat on the mattress Donghae had slept on the previous night, because Donghae's unique smell still lingered on it. Unconsciously, he hugged the pillow closer and closed his eyes.

"Sungminnie," Hyukjae was first to speak as his face was still pressed against the pillow, and leaning over his bent legs. “Do you really like Siwon?”

There was a pause, and Hyukjae angled his head so he was able to see Sungmin, and noticed his eyes where looking back at him, wide open. The latter was probably quite surprised by his question.

“W-why are you asking me that?” he stammered nervously. Hyukjae sighed for the umpteenth time and snuggled his nose down into the pillow, and drew another long sniff before managing to speak up again.

“It’s just... Do you trust him?”

Sungmin’s face softened and he smiled gently at Hyukjae.

“I do trust him, and I like him a lot. In fact, he just called about and said he wanted me to meet with his parents next week, so I think he’s really serious about us. So don’t worry about me Hyuk.”

Hyukjae nodded and smiled back.

“Does this have anything to do with Donghae?” the blonde asked bluntly and tried to pry the pillow out of Hyukjae’s grasp. Hyukjae scoffed and let the soft material be ripped out of his arms.

“Of course not, I just want you to be happy,”

---

“You know, I want you to be happy too Hyukjae.” Sungmin said sternly as he handed the redhead his jacket. “But still you are going on like this. Why?”

Hyukjae shrugged his shoulders and taking a step out of the open door, feeling the evening breeze chill his skin.

“I am happy,” he answered simply, but Sungmin gave him a look of disbelief. “He hasn’t left me yet, so I can’t be anything else than happy.” And with thad, Hyukjae gave his friend a last curt smile before walking towards the car and drive off.

¤´´¤´´¤´´¤´´¤´´¤

When Donghae was home, all they would do was bicker and fight. But during the hours when he wasn’t at home, Hyukjae found the apartment too empty and scary. There was never a time anymore that he felt like he enjoyed being at home.

Once Hyukjae had reached back to their apartment he was surprised to find it empty, because he couldn't come up with a place Donghae would’ve gone to. He sighed and went through the darkening hallway and slumped down on the couch with a heavy sigh. He booted up his laptop to check through a few documents for work, but soon closed it and put it away again. Time passed slowly while he was watching the TV for any kind of entertainment, but couldn't find anything that was funny to him at the moment. After approximately two hours of sitting and doing nothing, the apartment door opened and then closed, indicating that Donghae just arrived back home. At first, he didn’t bother to look at the other, but as soon as Donghae's back was turned, Hyukjae looked up and saw him rubbing his own back while walking into the kitchen.

With quiet steps, Hyukjae followed into the kitchen and saw Donghae leaning against the sink. As he stopped right behind the younger, he let his hands move out of his control and started to sneak them under Donghae’s shirt to caress the latter’s skin. Hyukjae wasn't sure of what he plotted on doing, but continued anyway. Donghae didn’t move as he suddenly felt the pair of hands trail down into his pants, and he sighed quietly.

“What do you want?” Donghae asked when the other’s hand had cupped his forming bulge while keeping his position composed. Hyukjae massaged the shaft a little rougher outside of his boxers when it seemed like he wasn’t getting the reaction from Donghae that he wanted.

In his heart, he knew that Donghae probably hated him too much to like his touches.

“I don’t want you to touch me.” The younger said as if he had read Hyukjae’s thoughts.

“He hates me.”

Without saying anything, Hyukjae pulled his hand back and walked out from the kitchen. He didn’t know why he even tried since their relationship was already ruined, and Donghae would only let himself be touched when he was horny. There was just something in him wanting to make Donghae feel better since the latter looked pretty worn out after been working hard during the week, but apparently he wasn’t the person who could make Donghae feel better anymore.
