So I haven't really mentioned this before because I don't particularly like talking about money but here goes. I have loans to pay for school, loans from the Federal government, and a loan from the school. Unfortunately next semester the school wants to use Sallie Mae for US students. "Most importantly if by some miracle I get an internship this summer it probably won't be paid..." Me too. Except I have to. But it still most likely won't be paid though, unless by some miracle I wind up at some huge institution like the Met or the Smithsonian. I'm freaking out about finances too...

My other problem is also that my Mom studied what I studied about 30 years ago. And 30 years ago you could get actual summer jobs rather than internships, and the summer jobs were paid. So she seems to be expecting me to find paid work.
But if you can get some kid to work for free for the experience there really is no motivation in paying them.
I've also find out that other governnemnts (not ours obviously!) have grants availalbe to help finance unpaid internships.
