whoa look who is playing the kroq
weenie roast this year. weird.
the bravey and the killers hate each other, hopefully theyll fight.
weirder yet the mars volta hates kroq/jed the fish. hopefully theyll fight too.
then to top it off i hope mxpx and alkaline trio have a god punk rock vs. satan punk rock fight.
here is my review/thoughts on coachella 2005 aka the year of the shkirt
kissmobile on the way to indio.
so saturday started out with nathaniel forgetting his tickets which totally sucked. we finally got in and saw gratitude, jonah's new band. sooo fucking cheesey. they have some good songs, but it is really hard to watch jonah dance around trying to be like bono or something. whats worse was his plea for someone to marry him quick so he can be like his grandparents whove been married for 60 years. after that was radio 4, who were kinda just eh. after this i think we saw the ravonettes, johnny mosely and then perry farrell djing. weird.
eisley played next, pretty good melodic pop, but kind of repetative.
after this i think we saw the end of snow patrol and then keane. pretty boring. but this gave us good spots for wilco and weezer.
they sounded pretty good but only played a couple of old songs which was a bummer. of course they had to close with spiders the longest/most repetative song ever.
next up was weezer who i though sounded really good; they didnt halfass the back up vocals like usual and they fleshed a lot of songs out with an extra guitar. shitty greatest hits set list though, no pinkerton.
after weezer we saw the first couple songs of bloc party which i thought was really good. then we saw the beginning of mercury rev which was awesome and kind of funny. they had a lot of deep quotes on the screen and really funny videos that were supposed to be really deep. then we headed over for coldplay.
"Being into Coldplay is like banging that fat chick next door, or having an uncle that doesn't like minorities... it's just not something you go out of your way to publicize." - buddyhead. anyways coldplay sounded really good i thought.
kara said this was the most unattractive thing shed ever seen me wear.
sunday we were watching fiery furnaces and these girls would not stop being obnoxious/center of attention. i wanted to do a collage of all the girls wear shkirts (skirts that can make up their mind) but heres at least one.
saw the first three songs of gang of four and they played damaged goods third so that ruled. then we booked it over to arcade fire.
the arcade fire stole the show for the whole weekend. not enough can be said about this band. seriously amazing. and i hate the word amazing.
then new order played and they are pretty old and boring now and their new stuff sucks but it was cool to hear the hits.
the telsa coil reminded me of jack white in coffee and cigarettes.
after this we saw pinback who were super boring again and then i saw two nine inch nails songs, including terrible lie, which ruled.
after that i got back for blood brothers who played a pretty good set. theres a million pictures of them but these are some of my favorites.
finally we saw the beginning of blackstar and a little of bright eyes and made the long drive home. blackstar was awesome but talibs voice was really hoarse and bright eyes was boring.
thats it the end. hopefully next year bowie, rem and outkast will headline. seriously.
