So, today was the final performance of Measure for Measure at St. Phillips College here in San Antonio. I played Angelo, the hypocritical villain. It's probably the most complex part I've ever played, and I am very proud of the work I did on the role. So how do you make a living in theater outside of New York and California? It's a tough question.

I'll let Rick explain it himself, but my impression from the theater professionals I've known (including, but not limited to Rick) is that it's a hell of a lot tougher to make a living IN those places-- basically because of the huge pool of competition.

Don't you make a living in theater by having some skill outside of acting that makes you desirable to producers? Like, oh, I don't know, fight choreography or something? :D

there's a growing film industry in Chicago (hint, hint).

Canada, too, has a large film industry.

Shreveport, baby... apparently it the spot in the US for location shoots because of all the different kinds of archetechture in the area. They can make it look like it's just about anywhere in the US... also they had a lot of empty warehouses and factories, etc at just the right time when all of Hollywood had to pull out of New Orleans because of Katrina.

Of course, they may not be doing much period pieces...
