Something strange is going on. It just hit 24C. This is Switzerland. It's the middle of winter!!!

This is the answer to the 'why we have not seen evidence of any other intelligent species in the universe?' question. You only get to our stage of technologicial development by using up the fossil fuels to a degree and rate that causes the positive feedback to kick in, leading to the planet coming over all Venus-like.

Here in Southern California, we've been getting *below freezing* temperatures. I mean, sure, it's winter here and supposed to be cold. But not *that* cold.
At least it's kind of let up now and getting a bit warmer again.
