And so a new weekend has begun and all I can say is, hooray!!! I had the most excellent time sleeping in this morning. All cozied up in the duvet, kitty sleeping by my side. Pure heaven! What is an IB diploma?

IB stands for International Baccaleureate. It's an internationally standardized rigorous curriculum. There are early and middle years program but the main one is a high school program where students have to take courses in six areas, do 150 hours of service, take a theory of knowledge courses and write a 3000 word essay. The same exams are written by everyone world wide. The final marks on a scale of 1-7 are determined by the exam, internally marked curriculum and externally marked curriculum (like an oral exam in english). If you adhere to all sorts of guidelines (mark minimums, etc...) you receive a diploma which most universities recognize for entrance. You can kind of think of it like AP but it's a much bigger and broader program. More info at http://www.ibo.org (can you tell I'm a big fan of the program?)
