Went to see the new Sam Dunn film, Global Metal, at the Scotiabank Theater with a couple of friends last night. Pretty interesting and very well put together. He basically travels the globe and visits different countries (some of which, like China, I wouldn't have ever thought would have any sort of metal scene) to explore the cultural impact metal

well put, all of it. when i was in Australia i had an Indionesian friend who wanted nothing in the world but to be in a punk band. when he found out it was my scene too, every time he saw me he would almost run at me to talk shop, talk about new bands he's discovered, etc. i remember at work he'd be washing dishes and eating other people's leftovers and he'd stare at me in wide eyed disbelief at all the bands i've seen and just dream of seeing them and getting to start something of his own. but of course speaking out in Jakarta comes with different reactions.

and man, it's been a while since i've seen the epitome of cowardice that you had to witness on the way home. always puts that Op. Ivy line in my head "one on one they won't look you in the eye, but when the crowds together it's a battle cry. i saw it, 15 on 1, when the crowd dispersed the kid was done." i feel that as the world becomes more uncertain, and all of our earth crises expand and multiply these instances only snowball. everyone is so confused....

Yeah dude...seeing a display like that just makes me angry. I mean, that guy could have been a genuine asshole for all I know, but unless he killed your parents or set your dog on fire or molested your kid or something, nobody deserves that kind of shit. But its part of club culture. Too much testosterone in one room. And my friends wonder why I don't accompany them when they go to places like that.

Have you left for the UK yet? If not, when do you leave, and do you have time to grab a couple of beers with a motherfucker beforehand?

nope, i'm not a free man till the festival ends on the 30th, till then i'm workin till 4am like no one's business. seems like i may have thursday off to rest, i will let you know.....also, would you do me the honor of attending Propagandhi with me on July 27th???
