Dar for Every Season (or at least today)

I tried to sing "February" in the shower this morning and realized, as I do every year, that my voice is just not pitched for the song.

So I switched over to "Iowa", which is of course perfectly suited to my voice. Not that anyone is surprised.

So, in googling for the links, I learned that:

hmm, I'd never looked at the lyrics for Iowa before. I googled youtube versions of both songs and enjoyed them a lot and remembered how much I enjoyed listening to Dar in college. perhaps, I'll have to add the Dar station on Pandora.

I'm not really buying the theory that "Iowa" is all about bisexual longings. (I'll allow that it's about longing and allows for the possibility that the protagonist is bisexual.) But I find it hilarious that there's a group of people who very passionately insist that's the meaning of the song.

(Obviously I am highly in favor of adding the Dar station! I'm so jealous that you once lived in Dar territory.)

I'd never heard the definite article either. When I sing along I always have two syllables of vocalization in that spot, but they are usually "there, and" rather than what's at that link. February is one of my favorite songs in the whole world.
