These days, I tend to leave Ethan alone for his own independent play as I complete my household chores in the morning before leaving for mum's place. This morning, Ethan asked for his lotion activity. This activity is recommended by his therapist because Ethan has very high tactile needs. It involves him playing with lotion in a little tray. So even when he manage to splat it all over the head, does it help?

My layman explanation: The need to touch things in order to have that sense of feel in the hands. Ethan has a high need to touch such stuff to regulate himself.

You'd probably find the whole situation hilarious as you'd realise that he's just trying to mimic us adults. With Dayne's kind of looks, he'd look cute!
