Easy peasy houmous

Apr 04, 2009 20:10

As mentioned yesterday, the houmous I made last night. It's really a case of keeping adding a bit of this and a bit of that until it tastes the way you want and has the consistency you want. This quantity of chickpeas makes enough for a snack for two people (although I ate the whole lot last night with pitta & carrot sticks, but didn't eat anything else!).

Blend together:

1 small can chick peas, drained
1-2 cloves garlic (2 makes it really garlicky. I could taste it all night!)
couple of squirts of lemon juice (fine to use the stuff from a bottle)
Half tsp of sesame seeds
Glug of sesame oil
Couple of glugs of olive oil
couple of green olives if you like
Pinch of salt

If it's too thick add a wee bit more olive oil. Add more lemon juice/sesame oil to taste if necessary. If you don't have sesame seeds or sesame oil add a bit more of the other. It all depends how you like it.

Eat with warmed pitta and/or sticks of whatever vegie takes your fancy. Mmmm.
