And when she talked about the fall I thought she talked about Mark E. Smith

I came to a realization the other day that for me, at this particular time and stage of my life, it's kind of worth it to buy expensive shoes. Now, when I say shoes, I am not including heels or otherwise coquettish fancy-dress things, which I wear maybe once every eight months for a maximum of five hours a shot. I mean shoes, real shoes, that I ( Read more... )

I do have a car, but I work retail and think nothing of paying lots for a good pair of shoes. My favorite is the Dansko Jocelyn. I'm on my second pair now, but they lasted me over two years and I wear them pretty much every day.

I need to get me a pair of new sandals, possibly tan ones.

Also congrats on the internship. I am working on that now and will hopefully have one this summer and then I am sooooooo close to done with my MLS.

Those look insanely comfortable. I as well could use some sandals, but will probably continue to wear out my 2-dollar target flip-flops. Those little shits last an alarmingly long time.

Danke! Where, out of curiosity, are you getting your MLS? Do you have a particular focus/burning passion? I'm pretty wide open as of now, but I'm heading down an archives management track. Fingers crossed on the ending up liking it after all thing.

My degree will be from the University of North Texas, and I will receive said degree without ever going to Texas, hee hee. I really think I would like to do reference, young adult stuff or management. I seem to be good at management, and it sort or makes me want to punch things because of management-related stereotypes. Oh well. Sometimes, managers are good people.

I really hope I end up liking it too. You never know. I am in my current job (retail management) totally by accident.

Interesting! I know a lady who got her entire PhD in a similar fashion.

I'm taking a management class this fall, and I'm a little wary. Probably due to the stereotypes. Don't punch me! I've actually had pretty good management experience as an underling, and should probably keep that in mind as I go through the class. At any rate, good luck!

a chipwich! is that what I think it is?

last weekend I spent the most I'd ever spent on shoes before: a whopping $65. they're adorable black heels that appear to be surprisingly comfortable. when it comes to shoes it seems that you get what you pay for.

oh and congrats on the intership!

For a second I thought you might've meant something like this. British food scares me.

I wasn't, but: those aren't as scary as they sound. At a lot of the better restaurants in New Orleans, you can get a potato po-boy, which is essentially french fries, mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato and roast beef gravy on french bread. They are fucking delicious.

Fluevogs! Jealousy. I really like these.

They kick all kinds of ass. I have a couple of pairs that go back six years or more, and they're still in decent condition (though a resole wouldn't hurt). Last time I was in Vancouver I bought myself a pair of these, and the word on the streetfeet is that they rock.

This site is all kinds of bad for me. I adore the bags as well. If only I had $350.

Francisco Sartos are a nice find (I'd say they're definitly mid-level, price wise comparatively) and look fantastic and last. I have a pair of rich plum to almost burgandy high heeled boots that currently reside in the closet, put an unnecessary hole in my pocket and need at least one more night on the town to break in. However, occassionally when I'm feeling down I will take them out and strut around my room and the living space.

And they look so good they were totally fucking worth it.

I was trained in the ways of discount shopping; I know very well the feeling of sitting with your guilty purchases next to your feet at an eatery and wondering when the hell all of it happened.

Any shoes that sound like a saucy latin lover are a-ok by me. Mine sound like a Scandinavian ethics professor, which I guess is sexy in its own way.

In June we should make a lot of guilty purchases and then eat a lot of crap to make us feel simultaneously guiltier and awesomer.

I know what you mean! Mostly, though, I'm that way about clothing-- with shoes, I tend to wear the same 3 or 4 pairs for years at a time, but with clothes I tire of things I buy after about 4 months. It's actually kind of a problem.
