He has had the good sense to do so already, currently living about 20 miles from me :)

I can't help thinking that Britain should have taken action against Mugabe instead of invading Iraq...

Zim doesn't have oil, so it didn't even register on Bush and Bliar's map. Britain should be ashamed of itself.

Learn to encrypt.

End of line.

Doesnt really help, if something's encrypted it can be deemed more important for the authorities to try to crack (no secrets, eh?) which knowing how shit even our own government is here.... you could probably end up being FORCED to give out any keys to the encrypted information.

You can be forced to give up your keys/passwords in the UK or go to prison if you refuse (Regulatory Investigative Powers Act 2000, Part III, Section 49).

"I don't know." or "I can't remember." are not valid excuses either.

Well, that sucks balls, and eats shit, at the same time.

I guess that means all emails to the folks askin how life is have to be somewhat limited in their honesty now..? :(

It is a total invasion of privacy really, I guess the only real choice would be to jump boat and leave Zimbabwe (which you already have! Congrats! :) )

oh you forget, freedom of speech, press and movement has all but ceased to exist in that place. State run communications and pulications are at a monopoly and any independant journalist worth their salt either makes reports secretivley or makes them from outside the country. All foriegn journalists are banned.

Or its friend, GPG.

This is assuming that encryption isn't illegal in Zimbabwe.

The other option is to record your messages as audio or video. Automatically scan that, bitches.

Oh it isnt yet, as far as i know but they would probably see that hole and plug it soon.

And you forget what speed zimbabwe internet operates at...a snail would get the cd baring the message faster than e-mailing it.
