So, I'm sitting here watching American Idol and it was totally worth it 'cause they're was an Iron Man 2 trailer in the middle. :D I still don't get this show though. I just heard one of the lamest renditions of Somebody to Love I've ever heard and the judges were largely positive. Mom likes it, though, so I won't ask for the channel change ( Read more... )

I don't get American Idol either. It makes me feel insecure.

Congrats on the PAX performance! That's actually really cool!

I just feel like none of these artists are that exciting. I also feel it's a little unfair to have the guys and girls who play instruments play during this thing. It's a singing competition after all. They shouldn't get a pass on crappy singing cause they play the electric guitar well. -_-

And thanks! I'm actually nervous. I'm not THAT good at singing, but so few people want to sing that I kinda got thrown into this. I'd probably be happier on the other three instruments!

Ha, I always hated Idol because no one played instruments. :) I'm a singer/songwriter (guitar), so I'm jealous of all those people and anyone else who "gets in". :)

Well, I can see your point, but my issue is it bills itself as a singing competition and it's especially evident in this crop that they're hiding behind their instruments. I'm all for the artists being able to play and sing, but they should be talented in both aspects and many are not in my opinion. :)

Also, I don't think it would bother me that they do that so much if they were playing their own music (which the program forbids). I'd rather them let one of the band members play the song so the contestant can focus on the vocals. They can play their own guitar parts when they're out on tour. ;)

Congrats about the RB tournament-- I'm sure you'll do awesome! :D

I'm up to right around where you get the crystarium too. I'm really liking the game now that it's picked up, and I don't mind the linearity either-- more linear usually means more plot, and I actually find the plot pretty interesting so far (definitely an improvement over the boredom of XII). It's reminding me a lot of X, which makes me happy. (And Vanille's accent sounds to me to be switching randomly between British and Australian, for no apparent reason.)

I'm not so sure. The qualifying song list includes that horrible Guns N Roses song. I hope my bandmates don't choose that. ;)

I'm much happier with FFXIII now that it's out of that initial war torn area. It does remind me of X, which is ok I guess as long as it doesn't wind up being as predictable. Most of the time I just wish Vanille would shut the hell up since she's that annoying character that randomly gasps and giggles at EVERYTHING.

Sorta funny thing though. My brother was watching me play and after the chocobo popped out of Sazh's hair, he turned to me and said "so... uh.. would he be sporting a chick-o-fro then?" I loled. XD

Vanille's voice actress is Australian

Ah... but does she always sound like this? I swear at times she's trying to sound British or American and it usually just sounds weird.

Thanks for finding that out though. ^_^

-_-;;;; I didn't even see it till now. My phone's always silent. I popped it open, call my mom for 5 minutes and don't touch it otherwise. Totally my bad though. I'll call him after work tonight.

I've almost clocked in 6 hours in FFXIII, so I'll just keep my mouth shut.

I'm at about the six hour mark, too, but I tend to play slowly. Just started chapter 4. Are you liking the game so far?

I'm almost done with chapter 4, and about to start disk 2 - but I did skip a lot of cut scenes in the begining (since I played an hour on my "other copy" that I had last week), so I'm probably still farther ahead, regardless of gameplay time.
Yeah, it's ok, getting better as I play, it's starting to actually get challenging. The first 3 hours I was saying "This would be a pretty good movie if it would stop making me pick up the controller and mash the A button every now and then"

Ah yes, you're definitely further along. Thanks for not spoiling anything. :)

Glad to hear the challenge goes up some. I lost a battle for the first time yesterday mostly because I didn't pay attention to the "Defense will work!" hint. -_- Have they explained why accessories have experience points attached to them at your point in the game, by the way? Six hours in and I still don't know what that's about!

I was dying a lot in chapter 4, but when I reworked my strategy, I had no problem. I was doing something stupid, and getting punished. It was great! I think I might still be picking the wrong paradigms and switching at the wrong times, but I feel like I'm getting better at it.

From what I've heard, the experience and levels have to do with the weapon upgrade system introduced later, but for all of the hand holding the game does, it sounds like what components do is not explained very well. Go figure.

Also, this is the worst American Idol season ever so far, even by Idol's standards. It's kind of painful. :P

How have you been Jay? It certainly been a while. :)

I was sorta getting a little miffed when I had only Vanille and Sazh in a party, but taking a moment to look at the paradigms and actually understanding what they're meant for helped tons.

Ah, great. Poor explanation eh? Well, that's what the internet's for.

Oh, so did you wind up getting a PS3 or a 360?

I'm good. Yeah, I never update my LiveJournal, so it seems like I've disappeared, doesn't it? I'll get around to it soon. ;)

The first Vanille and Sazh segment is full of three-way battles, and my most successful tactic was RAV/SAB and spread the damage around so the enemies did most of the dirty work. Buffs/Debuffs are getting pretty important again in FF. :) (FFXII had useful buffs too)

Ah, I know you won't like this, since you're a big 360 fan, but I went with the PS3. More exclusives that I wanted compared to the 360. I used to have a roommate with a 360, so I got to play a few of those exclusives back then, and that made the PS3 choice easier. Plus I got a great deal on black friday. :)

Please do. I need to know what's going down with the great lakupo. :)

I just got through that section. I think this is the first time ever where I didn't feel like an RPG pulled me kicking and screaming from my comfort zone. I'm really enjoying the paradigm shift structure. I'm also surprised at how much control that actually gives you.

I'm happy to hear you bought the system best for you! I just try to convince everyone to buy XBoxes so I can fill up my friends list. ;) I have a PS3 now too actually. Well, my brother does. You should add him on PSN. :) We also picked it up on black Friday, but other than 10 minutes of Noby Noby Boy, I haven't touched the thing at all. o_O The 360, shockingly, just better suits my change in gaming tastes!
