a review: my positive attitude has not shone through on my lj lately

yes, the human world sucks. it's a hard time to live. we're reaping the fallout of the Industrial Revolution pretty hardcore. the world should have ended in the late 80's, but it DIDN'T, and some of us are still dealing with the consequences. I personally thought i'd be goat-farming upstate by now (Sarah, this is why I love your LJ ( Read more... )

The world didn't end in the late 80s because the late 80s weren't as in danger of ending as the propaganda machines of the Atomic age made it out to seem.

I'm more in fear of a nuclear death with the FALL of Soviet Russia and the rise of Neo-Terrorism (my word for this latest media frenzy on a problem that has plagued America since the Iranian Embassy hostage crisis of the last 70s) than I was even then.

Back then, however, we lived in the constant fear that tomorrow someone would push the button and we would collectively die in a firey death or be forced to live out the aftermath of survivors in a post apocolyptic world of radioactive zombies, deadlands and tribal-style fights for resources.

Personally, I think the world is setting itself up for a much more subtle second Dark Age lead by totalitarian fascists and totalitarian socialists. Modern Nazi and Iron Curtain equivalants with no Idealic America to stand in the way... because the America (be it a facade or not) of the 1940s - late-1980s is dead.

Do you actually LIKE goats?

I vaguely remember the 80's. Srsly, I lost the time between 1984 - 1990, almost an entire decade. The sad part is, I don't remember much from before 1984 either.

goats are disturbing little things. i find them both repugnant and hilarious. but, my people are goat farmers from back in the day. also, cactus-fruit farmers (our village was known for its goats and its figguardina, which may be spelled wrong but is still cactus fruit).
i recall being vaguely politically aware during the 80's, but i was like, 6 yrs old, so w/e.

I remember being Republican in the 80's. Not that I belived in the politics...just that I wanted enough money to be republican. Like "Alex P Keaton". And I wanted to vote for "Ronny Ray Gun". Do I actually belive this stuff now? Yes I still want the money and yes I still want to blow shit up.... the rest of it? I don't bother to think about, politicians are all full of it.
