Summary: They met during vacation and fell deeply in love. When summer ended, they had to go separate ways. As all children do, they made a promise to meet again. Some would think it was just vacation's love, but maybe Sho and Aiba are different. Maybe their fate is to see each other again on the beach where they met for the first time.
Disclaimer: This os is for my dear
SonVidel for her birthday. I'm sorry to be so late, I hope you will like this little story.
Based on Simple Plan and Taka's song, “Summer Paradise.”
"Bo-chan, come here immediately!"
"No!" ten year old Sho snapped and ran away, ignoring his butler's calls. They were in Okinawa for a few days and it was already the same song. His parents were working a lot and were forgot him while it was meant to be summer vacation. He was fed up being alone all day with their butler as unique company. If his parents didn't care about him, then he would stay alone on the beach to wait for a kind family who would adopt him.
Sho took his shoes off and walked toward the edge of the beach, the waves wetting his feet in a pleasant way. He was better alone. He didn't need anyone to be happy.
"Are you okay?" a shy voice asked. Sho turned around to see a young boy looking at him with worried eyes.
"Yes," Sho sniffed, his hand wiping the tears in his eyes.
"Why are you crying?"
"It doesn't concern you," Sho snapped.
"Oh. Then, help me to build my castle." The boy grinned, his eyes shining in kindness.
"Why would I?"
"Because I'm alone and it's more fun to build a castle with a friend."
"I'm not your friend."
"Then let's be friends. I'm Masaki. Aiba Masaki."
"Sakurai Sho."
"Help me, Sho-chan!" Aiba smiled. Sho blinked at the familiarity and kneeled down to take some sand. "Like that."
Sho followed Aiba's orders and soon, smiled happily and even started to laugh as the water was starting to grow and to “eat” their castle.
"Mouuu, it's all ruined," Aiba pouted.
"We could build another castle tomorrow," Sho proposed, not liking to see Aiba sad.
"Okay. Let's swim!" Aiba immediately grinned, forgetting his sadness. The young boy ran in the waves, laughing loudly as the water drenched his face. After staring at him in disbelief, Sho joined him, pushing the young boy who fell in the sea. "Sho-chan!!!" Aiba exclaimed and ran after the older, jumping on his back.
"Oiiiii!!!" Sho laughed, trying to make Aiba fall.
At the end of the day, the two boys fell on the sand, laughing and panting.
"That was great." Sho smiled, looking at the dark sky full of stars.
"Yes. Look! A shooting star!" Aiba pointed the sky with wide eyes.
"Make a wish."
"I wish to stay with Sho-chan forever," Aiba whispered.
"Eh?" Sho gasped.
"Because Sho-chan is the best friend I've ever had. At school, they always make fun of me, but Sho-chan played with me," Aiba said shyly.
"I loved to playing with you." Sho turned his head to look at the younger.
"Let's play together everyday from now on!"
"Hai!"
"Masaki?!" They heard a voice calling.
"Bo-chan?!" another voice screamed.
"My mother." They both sighed at the same time before bursting out laughter.
"See you tomorrow?"
"Yes." Aiba nodded and kissed Sho's cheek quickly before running away.
"Bo-chan!" Sho rolled his eyes when he saw his butler with a panicked face. It wasn't even his mother. She was too busy to look for him.
"I'm here," Sho muttered.
"Bo-chan, you can't run away like that. What would your parents say if you disappeared?"
"They wouldn't even care." Sho shrugged.
"Of course they would."
"They would just say, 'Let's make another heir as we have lost the first one.' They don't even spend time with me during vacations."
"Bo-chan..." The butler sighed sadly.
"I don't care, I have found a friend. Can I come here tomorrow?" Sho asked with pleading eyes.
"Yes." The butler gave up under the young boy's hopeful eyes.
"Thank you, Takeda. You're the best!" Sho hugged the man's waist, the butler smiling tenderly and stroking Sho's hair softly.
"Poor little boy, always alone," Takeda whispered. "Bo-chan, what would you say if I baked you some strawberry cake and put on your favorite movie?"
"Yatta!!!" Sho grinned happily. The butler raised his young master on his back and walked toward the car, wondering how parents could ignore their son like that. Despite his strong character and stubbornness, Sho was a great kid. He obeyed well and always treated the others with kindness.
****
"Masaki-chan!!" Sho waved his hand to Aiba who was sat on the sand, eating an ice cream.
"Sho-chan!!!"
The older ran toward him and both started their games of the day under Sho's butler smile.
"It's great to see him smiling and laughing," Takeda chuckled.
Days passed quickly. Sho and Aiba met everyday on the beach to play together. Their friendship grew and soon turned into deep feelings for one another. They were experimenting for the first time.
"Sho-chan?"
"Hun?"
"Will you forget me when you will leave Okinawa?"
"Never. I can't forget my Masaki-kun." Sho took Aiba's hand.
"I love Sho-chan," Aiba blushed.
"I love Aiba-chan too." Sho turned his head to look at Aiba. His friend was so beautiful with his soft hair shining in the sun and the look of happiness filling his eyes. Closing his eyes, Sho approached his face and soon, their lips met for a sweet kiss. They didn't know anything about kissing. Physical proofs of love wasn't something they had experimented with yet, but it didn't prevent them from showing their love to each other. Sho stroked Aiba's cheek while the younger put his arms around Sho's waist. They stared at each other without a word, though, everything was said. The innocence due to their age was better and stronger than any kisses and was even more sincere than all the confessions of the world. Aiba laid his head on Sho's shoulder. Both were looking at the horizon, watching the sunset shining on the crystalline water.
"Let's make a promise," Aiba suddenly said.
"Hun?" Sho looked at his friend who stood up and took a piece of wood. The younger started to draw on the sand and soon, Sho grinned at seeing their names surrounded by a heart and with the word “itsumademo.”
"I promise to come back on this beach next year for the summer vacation to see my Sho-chan."
"I promise I'll find my way back to you." Sho took Aiba's hand and after looking at the drawing, the two boys kissed softly.
"I love you, Sho-chan."
"I love you too, Masaki."
But what Sho didn't know was he wouldn't be able to hold this promise.
****
Sho stared at the sky through the window of the plane, sighing sadly. Leaving Aiba had broken his heart, but he promised he would come back next year. It gave him the courage to face his life in Tokyo while Aiba would return to Hiroshima. They would be so far from each other, yet so close in their little country.
My heart is sinking
As I'm lifting up
Above the clouds away from you
And I can't believe I'm leaving
Oh I don't kno-kno-know what I'm gonna do
But someday
I will find my way back
To where your name
Is written in the sand
Cause I remember every sunset
I remember every word you said
We were never gonna say goodbye
Singing la-da-da-da-da
Tell me how to get back to
Back to summer paradise with you
And I'll be there in a heartbeat
Oh-oh
I'll be there in a heartbeat
Oh-oh
Coming back to his annoying old life was hard for Sho, who found his loneliness again in his parents' big empty house. He had found in Aiba more than a friend. He had found his half, a part of his soul. With Masaki, he wasn't alone or empty anymore and could act like every boy of his age. He felt alive and loved.
Ten years later...
"Sho!"
"I'm coming," Sho yelled back, his eyes fixed on the picture in his hands. On the photo, you could see two boys laughing and holding each other's hand. "Masaki..." Sho whispered. He hadn't forgotten the younger. After his start ten years ago, they kept writing to each other and promising to meet for the next summer, but Sho's parents didn't agree. They wanted him to study in a school in America and didn't let Sho have the choice. For ten years, Sho studied hard to fulfill his parents' wishes and was getting married to a woman they had chosen for him. Sho didn't even love her, but since his beginning of Okinawa, hadn't the strength to fight against them. He felt too empty without Aiba, like a broken, empty shell. Sho had never overcome his first love despite his young age and the short time he spent with Aiba. "I wonder what he became." Sho looked at the ring around his left finger, hating it with his whole soul.
My soul is broken
Streets are frozen
I can't stop these feelings melting through
And I'd give away a thousand days, oh
Just to have another one with you
What'd you say
Well real life can wait
(it can wait)
We're crashing like waves
(uh-huh)
We're playing in the sand
(me and you)
Holding your hand
Cause I remember every sunset
I remember every word you said
We were never gonna say goodbye
Singing la-da-da-da-da
Tell me how to get back to
Back to summer paradise with you
And I'll be there in a heartbeat
Oh-oh
I'll be there in a heartbeat
Oh-oh
"Masaki!!"
"Hai!!" Aiba ran in the stairs to join his boss.
"Hurry up. The clients won't wait for you."
"Sorry!" Aiba grabbed his wallet and rushed out of the store to buy what they needed. Running in the streets, Aiba froze when he saw the beach in front of him several meters further.
It had been ten years. Ten years since he saw Sho for the last time. He was only nine but had never forgotten their promise. "I'm so silly. He was only ten. I'm sure he doesn't even remember me. I should give up hope," Aiba whispered sadly. After Sho left Okinawa, Aiba had come back to Hiroshima. The next summer, Aiba waited for Sho on their beach like they promised each other, but Sho never came. Aiba had waited every day for one month on the sand hoping to see him again. As he trusted his friend, the younger kept coming every year to be there in case Sho was only late. Crying became something normal when Aiba was on this beach. He couldn't smile anymore. The painful memory of Sho haunted him anytime he came there. Two years ago his parents agreed to let him live and work in Okinawa, but they never knew that Aiba did all that to wait all the year for Sho. Every night, Masaki sat on the beach to watch the sunset.
My memories are reminding me
The perfect night on the perfect beach
Ano hi no kioku wo kaki atsumeta koto de modoreya shinai
The season's not the reason why
I fell in love with you in paradise
Kimi ga boku wo omoidasu tabi ni
And I’ll be there in a heartbeat
"Bo-chan?"
"Takeda, good morning." Sho forced a smile to his loyal butler.
"Yuri-sama has chosen the destination of your honeymoon."
"Oh."
"Okinawa." Sho froze at the words.
"I see."
"He is still waiting for you," Takeda said softly.
"How could you know? I'm sure he has forgotten me," Sho replied.
"No. I've been there to be sure. He has been living in Okinawa for two years now and his boss told me he was waiting every summer on the beach all day."
"Why are you telling me that?"
"Because I want my smiling and happy Bo-chan back like when you were on this beach ten years ago, instead of marrying a girl your parents chose."
"It doesn't concern you." Sho whispered.
"I've raised you like my own son, Bo-chan. I watched you grow up, talking your first steps, graduating and going to your first parties. You did all the things a normal teenager would do, but not once I saw you smiling. The last time was ten years ago."
"Stop talking about it. It's too painful." Sho clenched his fists.
"Do you still love him?"
"Yes. He was my first and last love. It's so stupid when you think I was only ten, but Masaki was the only one able to make me feel complete. His innocence and kindness erased my loneliness." Sho looked at the landscape through the window. "And I never held my promise. He might hate me now."
"It's not too late."
"I'm married, Takeda. Maybe just for two days but I'm married. I was never able to choose my own path."
"Then maybe it would be time to choose your own fate. The plane is in four hours. Don't forget what I've always told you..."
"Giving up is the easiest choice..."
"And will always leave you with regrets," Takeda nodded. "We are the masters of our destiny, Bo-chan, not the others." The butler smiled and left Sho alone in the kitchen.
"Can you forgive me, Masaki?" Sho whispered.
"Sho, are you ready?" Yuri called.
"I'm coming." Sho replied. "The masters of our own destiny, ne?" The young man chuckled sadly. "Maybe if I don't fight, I will always regret it after all."
"Sho!"
"Wait for me Masaki," Sho whispered to the picture in his hand before putting it in his wallet where it never left its place in ten years.
***
His heart was pounding like crazy when they got landed in Okinawa. He didn't know what would happen, but he was determined to try. It wasn't by chance if Yuri had chosen this destination for their honeymoon. Maybe fate wanted to give him a second chance.
"I'm so tired," Yuri whined for the nth time. Sho rolled his eyes in annoyance. Seriously, this bitch was the worst. He would have to give her a child if they stayed together. Just this idea disgusted him. In ten years, he had slept with men, finding in them a way to release the pressure and to forget Masaki. However, none of them had made him feel the way he felt when Aiba kissed and hugged him. For six months, he had to fuck this woman next to him that he hated. Getting hard for her was almost impossible but Sho had found magic pills able to get him hard like hell even if he wasn't even excited. "I would like you to get me pregnant here." Yuri took Sho's hand with a grin.
"We'll see."
"Sho, I want your children and from now on, you won't use any protection. Plus, I know how much you love to make love to me. No one has ever been as excited as you can be when we are in our bed," she giggled.
"Maybe because Viagra is my best friend, idiot," Sho wanted to say.
"If you say so."
"Tonight, we will go to bed early and you will make love to me as much as possible. We have one month to get me pregnant. I'll be so proud to hold the child of a Sakurai." She stroked her flat belly with shining eyes.
"Aren't you thirsty?" Sho asked to escape to this silly conversation. If he didn't react quickly, he would have to get her pregnant. The Hell on Earth.
"Yes. Let's stop in this store." She grabbed Sho's hand and entered the shop.
"Welcome!" a cheerful voice exclaimed.
A silence as cold as Antarctica wrapped the room when their eyes met.
"Masaki..." Sho whispered.
"Sho." The younger nodded.
"You know each other?" Yuri gasped.
"Sort of." Aiba forced a smile.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Yuri, Sho's wife." She grinned.
"His wife?" Aiba's eyes widened in shock.
"Masaki, I can explain, I..."
"Excuse me, I don't feel well." Aiba shook his head and left the room under Yuri's surprise.
"He is weird."
"Yuri, can you wait for me at the hotel? I have an urgent call."
"Okay." She nodded.
Someday
I will find my way back
To where your name
Is written in the sand
Yeah, yeah, yeah, let's go
Cause I remember every sunset
I remember every word you said
We were never gonna say goodbye
Singing la-da-da-da-da
"Married. He is married. I was so stupid to wait for him all these years," Aiba sobbed, kicking the stone on the sand. His eyes traveled on the beach, stopping at the exact place they wrote their names. How could have he been such an idiot? It was obvious Sho didn't care about him and made his life.
"Masaki..." Aiba jumped when he heard the soft but deep voice of his friend.
"What are you doing here?" Aiba asked coldly.
"It's not what you think."
"Don't take me for an idiot. Go to her, I'm fine."
"Ma-chan."
"Don't 'Ma-chan' me!!" Aiba yelled, turning his crying face to Sho. "I am so stupid! I waited for you every summer hoping you would hold your promise to come back! And now, you're here, married to this... this blonde."
"I never forgot you. When we left Okinawa, my parents sent me to America for my studies. I couldn't come back! Just as I returned to Japan, they announced I was getting married to a girl I didn't even know. I hate her! I hate having to kiss her, to make love to her when all I want is you! I still love you, Masaki. You're the only one able to fill this hole in my heart."
"Go back to her. We don't live in the same world, Sho," Aiba said in a broken voice.
Tell me how to get back to
Back to summer paradise with you
And I'll be there in a heartbeat
I remember when we first kissed
How I didn't wanna leave your lips
And how I've never ever felt so high
Singing La-da-da-da-da
Tell me how to get back to
Back to summer paradise with you
And I'll be there in a heartbeat
Oh-oh
I'll be there in a heartbeat
(summer paradise)
Oh-oh
I'll be there in a heartbeat
"Why?"
"I can't be with someone who follows his parents' orders like some kind of puppy. I need a real man, someone who will protect me and will fight for me. My parents were right after all. I should have left a chance to Hiroshi. He loved me and wasn't following the life his parents had chosen for him."
"Who is Hiroshi?"
"My ex boyfriend. The one who helped me to get up everyday to wait for you. I wasn't in love with him, but he was my only real friend."
"I can fight for you, Masaki."
"You remember this beach?"
"I remember every moment we spent together here. The castles, the water battles, the sunsets, our name written in the sand and mostly... our first kiss here."
"Then, you should remember that." Aiba stroked a tree where you could see the letters M+S surrounded by a heart.
"Our tree is still intact?" Sho gasped.
"Yes. But I'll change that." Aiba took a stone to erase their names in the tree.
"Stop!!!" Sho yelled, grabbing Aiba's wrists.
"Let me erase it! It doesn't mean anything now!" Aiba cried, struggling in Sho's arms.
"Never!!! I forbid you to do that!!" Sho screamed, slipping on the sand and making them fall on the beach.
"Why?" Aiba sobbed, staring at Sho above him. "Why don't you let me go?"
"Because you're mine." Sho stroked his cheek with a smile before kissing his friend. It was as soft as ten years ago, but as both had lost their innocence. The kiss grew deeper, their bodies moving against each other. Sho's hand started to open Aiba's jean but the younger stopped him.
"Not here."
"Baby, nobody can see us with all these trees." Sho showed the corner where they were before diving his hand in the younger's boxer.
"Sho!!" Aiba arched his body.
Soon Sho was inside his lover, moving slowly and deeply. Aiba's legs tightly wrapped around him. The older linked their hands, his mouth never leaving Masaki's who was moaning loudly, his body arching in pleasure.
"Sho... Sho..."
"I love you Ma-chan." Sho panted against his lips.
"Forever," Aiba whined.
****
"Look, a shooting star." Aiba pointed the dark sky. They were both naked, sitting on the empty beach with Masaki between Sho's legs, the older hugging him tight.
"Make a wish," Sho whispered in Aiba's ear.
"I wish to stay with Sho-chan forever."
"And I wish to be with Masaki forever."
"Are you going to go back to her?" Aiba asked sadly.
"Yes."
"I see," Aiba whispered, lowering his head.
"To tell her to go to Hell. The only one I'll make children to will be you."
"I can't get pregnant," Aiba objected.
"We can still try everyday." Sho smirked, kissing Aiba's birthmark.
"Pervert." Aiba laughed. "Let's take a midnight bath!" The younger stood up, running naked in the water. Sho laughed, following him and catching him in the sea. "Will you stay with me forever?"
"I promised you ten years ago to find my way back to you. It took me a long time but I held my promise." Sho cupped his first love's wet cheeks to kiss him, the younger wrapping his legs around his boyfriend's waist.
"Make love to me again, Sho," Aiba whispered between their lips.
"You make me feel complete." Sho kissed his lover deeply.
Some meters away, a tall figure was watching them with a smile. Finally, the two boys he used to watch over ten years ago were together again. They were now adults but their feelings never changed. It was as pure and deep as before.
"I told you so, Bo-chan. You're the master of your destiny. Now, Masaki-sama can fill the emptiness in your heart." Takeda grinned before leaving to let some privacy to the two young men who were discovering each other's bodies after all this time separated.
