Summary: Ohno looses his voice after a traumatic experience. He is desperate and alone, rejected by the others because of his silence. One day, he meets Jun, a young diver addicted to the sea. With Jun's help, Ohno discovers another world where the silence is the most precious thing. Together, they learn another language: the language of the sea.
Chapter 3:
"Are you all right? You seem shocked," Jun repeated when the man in front of him didn't answer and before adding: "I'm Matsumoto Jun, nice to meet you."
Jun smiled kindly.
Ohno blinked, he sat up and looked at the diver. He wanted to thank him or maybe yell at him, because after all he wanted to die but couldn't. Seeing Ohno's pale face, Jun smiled gently.
"You look very shocked, come on, I’ll bring you to my home, you'll take a hot shower and I'll heal your bruises," Jun said, grabbing Ohno's arm to help him standing up.
Ohno didn't protest but froze at the touch. He hated when a man was touching his nape, it made him feel disgusted of himself. Jun seemed to see his embarrassment because he lowered his hand and gave him an apologetic look. Ohno smiled a little and followed the young man toward the car. Jun opened the door and when both were sat, he drove them to his apartment, hoping his friends had left for work. He wanted to ask many questions but the sleepy man didn't seem ready to answer. After a few minutes, they arrived. The diver led Ohno to the door number 3104 and opened it. The apartment was dark and empty, Jun switched the lights on and took his shoes off, followed by Ohno. The young man brought a towel and showed him the bathroom.
"You can take a long shower if you want. Would you like a coffee?" Jun asked and Ohno nodded.
Ohno stared at Jun's apartment. It was very clean and beautiful. There was a big bookcase in the living room full of mangas and CDs, particularly Michael Jackson's albums. Obviously, the younger loved this singer. The walls were white and chocolate with a comfortable sofa in the middle of the room. Under a big flat TV, there were a Wii and a PlayStation 3 on the ground with some games. A few pictures decorated the walls. There always was Jun on it, with three other guys that Ohno didn't know. Two of us seemed to be a couple if you noticed how close they were, and the last boy was hugging Jun on most of it. Without knowing why, jealousy invaded Ohno's heart seeing the relationship Jun seemed to have with this guy.
But his eyes widened when he saw a big aquarium against the wall and he moved toward it. There were lots of beautiful and strange fishes with many colors. Some orange and blue starfishes were moving close to the glass and Ohno smiled in front of this little ocean.
"You like it?" Jun asked making Ohno jump. The silent man looked at him and nodded.
"Me too. My fishes are very precious to me."
He put his fingers in the water and the fishes swam to his hand and bit slightly the tip of his fingers as if they said 'hello, okaeri'. When Jun saw Ohno's bright smile he took his hand delicately and put it in the water. At the beginning, Ohno froze at the touch but when he saw Jun's kind smile, he let the younger do. The fishes stared curiously at the new hand but soon touched Ohno's fingers kindly. The silent man grinned happily and moved his fingers slowly to play with the beautiful fishes.
"I think they like you." Jun smiled. "Oh, even Yume is here!" He added, showing a big weird and cute fish to Ohno. "Kazu, my best friend, offered me Yume for my birthday. It's an Epaulette Chabot's shark. This one is 15 cm, it's still a baby and he loves sleeping, that's why I called him Yume, and it's a song of Kazu too. You can touch it, he is very kind and loves it."
Jun stroked Yume's head and the little shark let him do happily. Ohno tried and blinked when the shark kindly bit his finger.
"He likes you, he always do that when he likes someone. Yume will be 70 cm when he's adult. I just have sea fishes and you're lucky because they are rare," Jun chuckled.
Ohno nodded, dreaming. He couldn't stop looking toward these cute habitants, they were so kind and beautiful when they were swimming.
Shaking his head, the silent man followed Jun in a bedroom. There was a very big wardrobe and a big stereo on the desk. A king-sized bed was in the middle of the white and light blue bedroom. Ohno's eyes widened when he saw the pictures on the walls. You could see many fishes, corals, morays on it and even small sharks. Ohno thought it was Jun's diving pictures because he saw him on some of them.
"You like the ocean?" A voice asked and Ohno jumped when Jun appeared next to him.
The silent man moved away a little but nodded. Yes, he loved the sea!
"I always thought the sea was the most beautiful place in the world. On that day, I swam next to a shark fox." Jun pointed a picture were there was a strange and cute shark. "It's a shark fox. He is cute, ne? It's a small shark, most of the time, harmless and this shark is a shark-whale. It's a very big and kind animal. This one was 14 meters, I felt very small when I swam next to him." Jun chuckled in front of the beautiful picture. "And this one is a shark hint white. He was 2 meters. I saw this shark when I dived in Indian Ocean at 30 meters. It's a kind animal with the divers."
Ohno threw an appreciative look toward the younger. How this skinny man could swim with these big and frightening animals? Jun seemed to read his thoughts because he smiled kindly.
"Sharks are misunderstood animals. They aren't dangerous; it's a very shy sort. If you respect them, they are kind with you. Of course there are some dangerous sharks but they aren't more dangerous than a lion or a tiger."
Ohno nodded and the younger showed him the bathroom.
The older sighed, feeling the water on his body. Despite the failure of his suicide attempt, he felt good. This man was very kind with him even if Ohno knew he would change when he learns about his problem. Even if he didn't bear the touch, Satoshi felt safe with the diver, there was something that calmed him down.
After a while, he came out of the bathroom wearing a shirt and sweatpants belonging to Jun and walked to the kitchen where the young man was preparing their drinks.
"You look better." Jun smiled, his heart beating faster when he saw his wet hair and the beats of water on Ohno's cheeks, he looked so sexy! He gave him the coffee and both sat on the sofa.
"So~ what's your name?" Jun asked.
Ohno lowered his head, ashamed and sad. When Jun learns about his problem, he would see him like the others do.
"Are you okay?" He added, worried.
Ohno took the paper and the pen on the table in front of them and wrote something before holding it out to the younger who read it.
"You can't speak!" Jun exclaimed, chocked.
I'm sorry, it's better if I leave, thanks for all.
Ohno gave him the note and stood up but before he could leave, Jun caught his arm.
"Don't leave, I'm sorry" Jun said.
Ohno stiffened and looked at him with scared eyes and Jun released his arm immediately.
"I'm sorry, I was just surprised." Jun apologized. "I mean...stay for the night, you seem really sad and...I...I don't know what I mean but please, stay."
Tears rolled on Ohno's cheeks and the younger didn't know what to do. It seemed like the silent man hated his touch but Jun wanted to hug him because he looked so vulnerable.
"I'm so sorry," the diver repeated, lowering his head. He felt very stupid to stay like that. "You should sleep, we'll talk later," Jun added with a sad smile and led him to a bedroom. When he wanted to leave, Ohno caught his arm.
"What?" Jun asked, surprised by the touch.
Ohno wrote something with his finger on the younger’s skin. Jun frowned and tried to understand.
"Oh..no Satoshi?" Jun asked, hesitantly and Ohno smiled shyly.
"Nice to meet you, Ohno-kun, now, you must sleep." Jun grinned and left the bedroom.
Jun sighed. Why was his heart fluttering when he looked at the silent man? Why did Ohno try to kill himself? There were a lot of questions in his mind but no answer. He took a beer and switched on his TV.
Four months later...
Time passed quickly and Jun and Ohno learned to know each other. The silent man agreed to stay at Jun's apartment when the younger asked him to. Jun loved how Ohno could appease his heart, his bad mood and his sadness. The silent man couldn't speak and yet, Jun thought they didn't need words, they understood each other just with one look. But Jun insisted to learn sign language and Ohno patiently taught him how to speak with his hands.
"This one is 'are you hungry'?" Jun asked and Ohno laughed silently before he gave him a paper.
You said 'feed me'.
Jun chuckled, blushing. And looked at Ohno's correction.
"And how do you say 'I love you'?" Jun suddenly asked and Ohno blinked, surprised. "I...Sorry...I just wanted to know..."
Ohno smiled and stood up.
He pointed at himself with his finger, opening his mouth silently: I...
He crossed his hands against his chest: Love...
And showed Jun with his finger: You!
Jun smiled and repeated the movements while saying the words out loud.
"I--lo-ve--you."
Ohno blushed and Jun grinned.
"Thank you, it's easy!" The younger exclaimed and sadness crossed Ohno's eyes but he smiled too. Jun was a good student and learned very fast the basic signs in just one week.
With the time, Ohno seemed to trust him more. He let Jun touch his hand when the younger gave him something and even put his head on his shoulder when both were watching a movie. Ohno loved to write on Jun's nape when he wanted to say something; shivers always crossed his body when he felt the soft nape of the younger under his fingers. But Jun didn't try anything; he didn't want to scare Ohno and waited for him to be ready. The sleepy man felt new feelings toward the young diver. He really trusted him and really liked Jun's touches, now.
Jun had an idea since a long time ago. He wanted to make Satoshi discover diving. He didn't know why but felt the older was born for the sea. He wanted to prove to the silent man that sometimes words aren't necessary. Sometimes, the most precious thing was the silence. He saw Ohno was ashamed of his difference and wanted the sleepy man to feel better. But sometimes, things aren't as we want them to be...
Jun was watching a movie while Ohno was sleeping. He jumped when he heard a noise, but soon, smiled, seeing Masaki followed by Kazu.
"Yo, J, what are you doing?" Nino asked.
"Isn't it obvious, stupid brat!" Jun mumbled.
"Oi, don't you dare call me like that, BakaMoto!" Nino snapped.
"Or what? You're just a silly brat." Jun smirked.

Aiba sighed when he saw Nino grabbing Jun's arm and twist it. They did it again. Jun shouted and hit Nino's chest. The gamer wanted to punch him in the face but someone pushed him and he lost his balance.

"Jun, who is he?" Aiba asked, surprise.
"It's a long story," Jun said. "Are you okay, Ohchan?"

"It's a game between us, we didn't really fight, don't worry. These are my best friends, Aiba Masaki and Ninomiya Kazunari. Guys, this is Ohno Satoshi, a friend of mine."

But Ohno stayed behind the diver, still afraid.
"He doesn't speak much." Nino smirked.
"Ohchan can't speak," Jun replied with a death look to his best friend.

"You weren't sleeping?" Jun asked, tearing Ohno out of his thoughts. The silent man grabbed his arm and wrote on it. "Sorry, we woke you up." Jun smiled, understanding what Ohno meant. The older wrote another sentence and Jun blushed deeply.
I was afraid without you.
"Oi what did he say?" Nino asked.
"Nothing," Jun answered, blushing. "Go to bed, I’ll come in few minutes," Jun whispered in Ohno's ear who nodded and left.

"So~ can we have an explanation?" Aiba asked.
Jun sighed and explained. He didn't say to his friends that his heart was beating faster everytime he looked at the sleepy man and why he didn't understand it. Aiba seemed to see his friend didn't say everything but shut his mouth, he knew the younger would speak when he'll be ready.

"No, he is still afraid of me."

His stomach was hungry and protested loudly, making Ohno giggled silently and he left his bedroom. He walked toward the kitchen but stopped when he heard some laughs. Jun's bedroom was opened and when he looked inside, his eyes widened. The younger laid on his bed, naked, with Nino on his chest naked too. The gamer kissed and licked Jun's chest who chuckled and held his friend's back. Pain crossed Ohno's heart when he saw them but when he wanted to leave without a noise, Jun's eyes met his and he bowed quickly before running away.
"Shit!" Jun exclaimed. He pushed Nino away, took his sweatpants and left his bedroom.

"Satoshi?" Jun asked and approached him but when he tried to touch Ohno, the older moved away abruptly as if Jun's hand had burnt him.

He locked himself up in the bathroom and curled in a ball on the floor, crying silently without knowing why. Jun didn't do anything wrong, he just slept with Nino, after all. "I'm so sorry," the diver repeated, lowering his head. He felt very stupid to stay like that. "You should sleep, we'll talk later," Jun added with a sad smile and led him to a bedroom. When he wanted to leave, Ohno caught his arm.
"What?" Jun asked, surprised by the touch.
Ohno wrote something with his finger on the younger’s skin. Jun frowned and tried to understand.
"Oh..no Satoshi?" Jun asked, hesitantly and Ohno smiled shyly.
"Nice to meet you, Ohno-kun, now, you must sleep." Jun grinned and left the bedroom.
Jun sighed. Why was his heart fluttering when he looked at the silent man? Why did Ohno try to kill himself? There were a lot of questions in his mind but no answer. He took a beer and switched on his TV.
Four months later...
Time passed quickly and Jun and Ohno learned to know each other. The silent man agreed to stay at Jun's apartment when the younger asked him to. Jun loved how Ohno could appease his heart, his bad mood and his sadness. The silent man couldn't speak and yet, Jun thought they didn't need words, they understood each other just with one look. But Jun insisted to learn sign language and Ohno patiently taught him how to speak with his hands.
"This one is 'are you hungry'?" Jun asked and Ohno laughed silently before he gave him a paper.

Jun chuckled, blushing. And looked at Ohno's correction.

Ohno smiled and stood up.

"Thank you, it's easy!" The younger exclaimed and sadness crossed Ohno's eyes but he smiled too. Jun was a good student and learned very fast the basic signs in just one week.
With the time, Ohno seemed to trust him more. He let Jun touch his hand when the younger gave him something and even put his head on his shoulder when both were watching a movie. Aiba sighed when he saw Nino grabbing Jun's arm and twist it. They did it again. Jun shouted and hit Nino's chest. The gamer wanted to punch him in the face but someone pushed him and he lost his balance.
"Shit, what the fuck?!" Nino yelled but stopped when he saw a short man who hugged his best friend.
"What...who are you?!"
"It's okay, Ohchan, it was just a game," Jun said, shocked by Ohno's reaction. The sleepy man really was hugging him!
"Jun, who is he?" Aiba asked, surprise.
"It's a long story," Jun said. "Are you okay, Ohchan?"
The older nodded but looked still worry.
"It's a game between us, we didn't really fight, don't worry. These are my best friends, Aiba Masaki and Ninomiya Kazunari. Guys, this is Ohno Satoshi, a friend of mine."
Ohno froze. He raised his eyes to Jun who smiled. It was the first time since two years that someone called him a "friend". Tears filled his eyes and he buried his face against Jun's chest who hugged him tightly.

"He's afraid of being touched," Jun explained to Aiba, who was surprised at Ohno's reaction. "Don't worry, Ohchan, Masaki is my friend, he is very kind."
But Ohno stayed behind the diver, still afraid.
"He doesn't speak much." Nino smirked.
"Ohchan can't speak," Jun replied with a death look to his best friend.
"Oh, sorry. Nice to meet you, Ohno-san." Nino bowed.
Ohno blushed and tightened his grip on Jun's shirt. He frowned when he understood Nino was the who was hugging Jun on the pictures.
"You weren't sleeping?" Jun asked, tearing Ohno out of his thoughts. The silent man grabbed his arm and wrote on it. "Sorry, we woke you up." Jun smiled, understanding what Ohno meant. The older wrote another sentence and Jun blushed deeply.
I was afraid without you.
"Oi what did he say?" Nino asked.
"Nothing," Jun answered, blushing. "Go to bed, I’ll come in few minutes," Jun whispered in Ohno's ear who nodded and left.
Jun blushed when he saw the looks of his friends. Aiba stared at him excitedly and Nino showed his eternal arrogant bratty look.
"So~ can we have an explanation?" Aiba asked.
Jun sighed and explained. He didn't say to his friends that his heart was beating faster everytime he looked at the sleepy man and why he didn't understand it. Aiba seemed to see his friend didn't say everything but shut his mouth, he knew the younger would speak when he'll be ready.
"I think he likes you," Aiba said, kindly.
"No, he is still afraid of me."
Aiba shook his head with despair but didn't respond.
"Wait a minute, I’ll be back."
Ohno was sitting on the edge of the bed, waiting for him. Jun sat down on the bed while Satoshi slipped under the sheets and he stayed there while waiting for the silent man to fall asleep. Ohno blinked. He opened his eyes and saw he wasn't in his bedroom. He stood up, panicked, but soon, he sighed when he remembered where he was. His stomach was hungry and protested loudly, making Ohno giggled silently and he left his bedroom. He walked toward the kitchen but stopped when he heard some laughs. Jun's bedroom was opened and when he looked inside, his eyes widened. The younger laid on his bed, naked, with Nino on his chest naked too. Pain crossed Ohno's heart when he saw them but when he wanted to leave without a noise, Jun's eyes met his and he bowed quickly before running away.

Ohno was sitting in the corner of his bedroom, his head buried in his knees.
"Satoshi?" Jun asked and approached him but when he tried to touch Ohno, the older moved away abruptly as if Jun's hand had burnt him.
"I'm sorry Satoshi..." Jun whispered, feeling very bad.
Ohno looked at him and the younger gasped when he saw the tears on his face. Once again, he wanted to touch the silent man but Ohno moved away and left the bedroom. He locked himself up in the bathroom and curled in a ball on the floor, crying silently without knowing why. Jun didn't do anything wrong, he just slept with Nino, after all. Jun understood the older didn't want to answer and decided to let him alone for a moment. He jumped when Nino hugged him from behind and pushed him away.
"Eh, what happened?" Nino asked, hurt.
"It happened that we are stupid. It was a big mistake to sleep together again," Jun snapped back.
"And why? Does your precious Satoshi is shocked because of it, now he knows you have a sexual life?!" Nino smirked.
"Shut up, Kazunari! Ohchan has nothing to do with that!"
