I think the thing that creeped me out as a kid wasn't so much that they were being turned evil - it was the fact that they were doing it to innocents, unborn beings that had no opportunity to take another path. It would have bothered me a lot more, I think, if it had been fully-grown, thinking beings that somehow stumbled into being tainted. (I fully acknowledge that this is an irrational gut revulsion.)
Waitwaitwait... Raistlin had a kid? With an URDA? I was kind of hoping they had left the Urda as just a one-off race for that one book. Because the idea of Raistlin spawning at all is just disturbing.
And that's another thing I find weird about this series - the standards of beauty are entirely humano-centric. Draconians, hobgoblins, and dwarves? All leering at the beautiful human woman (usually Tika.) Don't they have their own standards of beauty? I mean, wouldn't an average draconian look at Tika and think "too mammalian"?
