frozen solid

A bit more skiing today, mostly demoing two more pairs of skis. Some of the skiing was fun, but I found myself going in rather early due to the extreme cold-not so much on the slopes, but on the lifts. Lift rides aren't that long, but I just didn't feel safe staying out longer-my hands and feet were extremely cold and beginning to go numb ( Read more... )

My Dad's a radiologist, so... imaging stuff, I guess. I really know very little about medicine, beyond what I've learned from being around him and my Mom (who is a nurse) plus dealing with my orthapedic issues. (The so-called "wet sciences" are my one major area of weakness academically. I love math, I love arts and humanities, but just could never get into bio.)

I do know he has a book coming out that he wrote with two other guys that all med students and future med students should get! It's an anatomical atlas that pairs Frank Netter's drawings with radiological images of the same features / organs / parts of the body. Apparently this has not been done before, and is something of a Big Deal.

Demoing as in trying out. I did really like one of the three pairs I tried, though it looks like I won't be making a decision this season. Have you ever been skiing? I really love it, in large part because it's the one athletic thing I can really do well at, but I know a lot of people find it unappealing for a variety of reasons.
