I'm in favor of the Space Papacy too, so don't worry about trailing in one state's primary. Clinton's husband didn't win either NH or Iowa.

It's a reference to Karmageddon. One of the three possible futures was the Space Pope future, but it required that Barack Obama win the party's nomination (albeit in 2012, not '08) in preparation for becoming His Grooviness Barack I.
