OMGWTFBBQ NANA VISITOR!!! HOORAY!!!
When I talk about how DS9 is the best of the Treks, and had consistently better acting than any of the others despite Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner's fine performances on TNG, Visitor is a lot of the reason. Kira Nerys was a role that was at times very dramatically heavy, and from very early on in the show's run-she matured into her character faster than, say, Alexander Siddig or Rene Auberjonois into theirs. Visitor brought a great deal of depth, warmth, and humanity to a character struggling with some major demons.
So to see her on Battlestar was truly refreshing, and the role, that of a dying cancer patient who has found faith in God, was appropriately dark while still being uplifting.
Guess it's not going to be a recurring role though. :-/
