Matthew stood with the closed door at his back waiting for Isabeau to calm down.  He had fully intended to keep his conversation with Xander to himself, but this new found power of his wife's was able to sense the  turmoil within him instantly. He had fought to keep his voice soft and even as he explained to her that he had tried to talk her

"No you do not have to be there, Matthew Delany." Izzy was furious. With Xander for going off halfcocked and at Matthew for wanting to go along for the ride. "Neither one of you should be there, because it shouldn't be happening at all."

She paced back and forth. "MEN! You idiots think that problems can be solved with violence. Somebody does something and your response is beat them up or kill them. Uuuuuuhhhhh." She growled in frustration. "Where's my cell phone? I'm going to call Xander and put a stop to this insanity, right now. I have no intention of spending the next fifty years visiting both of you in jail."

"I will be there." He growled, planting his feet firmly. "I will be there so that Xander will not be caught. I will be there to see that this monster who molests small children is put in hell where he belongs." He took a deep breath and tried to calm his own anger. "It has been put into motion Isabeau. It can not be stopped but I can make sure that those involved are safe."

"And suppose the great Matthew Delany fails just this once and you both end up in jail. What then? What happens to me, to us?" Izzy did her best to fight back the tears that threatened.

"I'm not that great but I am careful. It will happen in a place that for all intents and purposes does not exist. The person who has been contracted will leave no trace." He paused, running his hands shakily through his hair. "I need to be there to watch your brother. I need to be able to force him to leave should he....I can't let him carry this burden alone Isabeau."
