I'm going to post something that appears on ESPN.com.  It's by Gregg Easterbrook, better known to some as the Tuesday Morning Quarterback, or TMQ for short.  I like his point...take a sec and read it and make your own conclusions.

"The disgusting thing about dogfighting isn't that animals battle and die -- after all, animals fight to the death in ( Read more... )

It vanished because I didn't read the fine print. I kept seeing the whole article when I looked at the preview...but then I read that it's supposed to be that way. Of course, it's after I deleted and reposted it.

Gregg Easterbrook is a pretty darn good writer. He always interjects neat facts and subjects between paragraphs about sports. This whole piece served as his preview about the Atlanta Falcons. He followed that up with the fact that they're not going to be good this year (one or two sentences), but this was much more interesting anyway.

YAY! *HUGS* Bah I say to your Fantasy Football, btw. You would have had more fun in Kara with me. And you might have got a nice wand of kaboomy disgustingness. But no. You want to play with your real friends. That's FINE. :p"

I find his arguments on behalf of poor Michael Vick a little lame. He compares apples to hand grenades. The only thing I sort of agree with is that there's a disparity of treatment, partially because of the federal charges, and partially because of his celebrity status. I, for one, would like to see all such crimes punished to this level rather than see Vick's punishment lessened. Animals are still concidered property by the law, no more status than a car or a lamp. I don't think they're people, but they're alot more than furniture, and heinous cruelty to animals should be punished with real jail time. Since Vick has big money, fine, let him pay some cash as well. He loses endoresements? waaah. BTW, if Vick or anybody had tried this crap on my dog, they'd never find enough of him to prosecute.

I would also like to see this get less media coverage...there's alot more for people to be worried about these days.
