Cartoon Network Paralyzes Boston: Country laughs

All righty. Before I go into my observations on this whole mess, read the article here to get a background on what I'm talkin' about:

Now...these Aqua Teen Hunger Force things have been in other cities for WEEKS without so much as a peep. But apparantly Boston is just a little more ( Read more... )

The Supreme Court... anonymous February 1 2007, 20:45:46 UTC
...has already set a precedent for this sort of thing. The decision was with the public establishment and not the pranksters.

The majority opinion was based on "yelling fire in a crowded theater."

I disagree about the prank - marketing ploy - whatever you want to call it. The idea was to arouse suspicion and garner attention.

I believe the "yelling fire" thing wasn't with malicious intent, either. That was the defense, that it wasn't with malicious intent - but it still caused a dnagerous situation. I'll poke around for the decision, but I think it's germaine.

I was thinking the same thing last night when I saw the story "break". They say that this is the kind of publicity money cannot buy.

I dunno here Matt, this sort of thing - to me at least - falls under that "yelling fire in a crowded theater" thing that dates back from the 1960s and the Warren Burger court. It WAS tempting things, and the fact that it didn't cause unrest sooner kinda has me worried, including in my hometown of Philadelphia.

You don't throw yourself off a building and expect God to save you, nor should you put small black boxes with wires and batteries near major infrastructure and not expect to arouse suspicion.

Remember, before 9/11 hijacked airplanes weren't flown into buildings, either.

Actually, I meant to more make fun of the fact that these two yo-yos who posted these signs all over town are being charged with "terroristic hoax" or something like that. I think it was an ill advised ad campaign and they were stupid to do so, but at the same time, I think Boston is going WAY overboard in charging these two with this terror shit. Criminal mischeif, yes...terroristic intent, no. Also, I think Turner should re-emburse the city for their damages for the day, since it was their stupid idea to begin with ( ... )

This is the same city that fired Opie and Anthony over an April fools joke over the mayor being 'dead'.

This is the city that shooed away Babe Ruth, Roger Clemens, Wade Boggs, Adam Vintari, and I'm sure alot more I can't think of off the top of my head.

Same city that was rooting FOR the away Lakers last night in basketball, because they want that #1 pick.

The same one that hired engineers to build the world's most efficient expensive city transit system ever right through the most historic baseball park in the world.

I think I am all laughed out personally :P
