Masculinizing the noun

Mar 11, 2007 21:16

While I previously drew a line in the sand against maculinizing nouns for trend articles here, recent developments have caused me to draw a new line right HERE with "mantry", or, one presumes, the "man pantry". (But alas! I am torn because the article features (manly, delicious) cured meats.)

In any case, below is a list of words bastardized for the sake of trend articles and accompanying explanations. If we do not take steps to combat this now, it could turn into a trend piece of its own!
  • mandals, or man sandals
  • man-bags, or man bags
  • murses, or man purses, or male nurse [added 12 March 07]
  • manpris, or man capris
  • man-dates, or man dates
  • manpinions, or man opinions
  • mantry, or man pantry
  • manny, or male nanny [added 12 March 07]
  • MOOBS, or man BOOBS [thanks,
    bunkadoo ; added 7 October 2007]
Please add more offenders in the manments.
