Looks like this is the end. I haven't posted to LJ in a long time, and neither have most of my friends. I'm still checking my friends page weekly, but I don't really expect to post any more to this journal

I'm totally with you. It is a shame that the trend is to twitter because those posts are pretty banal and not something I'm really going to look back on. It's good at sharing links and small news, spreading the word, but I think there ought to still be a place for more long-form blog entries. Looking at my own LJ, the last time I posted it was to say I'd finally joined twitter, so I guess that says something.
One thing that I've been doing for the last 6 months is ohlife.com. It's a private journal that emails me once a day and all I do to post is reply. It's the only journal like thing I've ever been able to post on consistently. It's a shame no one gets to read any of it, but at least I don't have to worry about filtering myself for what I'd be comfortable being public or what I think others might actually be interested in.
