I cannot believe what I'm seeing on the news in New Orleans, right now. It's worse than anything I can possibly imagine - unless I was actually seeing places like the Riverwalk, Convention Center, etc. where I have walked and done sightseeing, I wouldn't be able to believe this was happening in the US

Are we still so racist that if you're poor and black, no one cares whether you live or die?

Please pardon my cynicism, but yes, at least the people in charge are. Actually, I don't think it even matters what race you are, if you're poor they think you belong dead.
