Finally saw the pilot episode of Veronica Mars (missing the first 15 minutes).

Took me a while to get my head around it, it seemed okay. Very dark in places (especially for a 6pm start). I don't get the thing with the Sheriff (I think). Is he related to the...Kanes, was it? And what of that guy who smashed her headlights? Who was he? Was one of his friends Duncan?

The Sheriff isn't related to the Kanes. He's just a dumbass deputy who became sheriff when Keith was fired. And the guy who smashed her headlights was Logan, Duncan's friend (though I don't think Duncan was present when the headlight-smashing happened) who Veronica framed with the bong.
