All of this shit happening with our government, including the Supreme Court, is starting to really scare me. It doesn't take much to get my conspiracy theory juices flowing as it is, but with these people in power my juices are flooding

I don't think people are quite stupid enough to let it get that bad.
The one thing that's different between us and fascist dictatorships of the past is that the government will never have complete control over the media. They have a media that is lazy and complicit, but they only influence them through spin, they can't actually get them to say anything they want. That alone would prevent them from pulling that kind of coup. Because of that, Bush has already started to lose a lot of conservatives. Look at his approval rating -- lower than anyone's but Nixon's. 26%! Nobody with a 26% approval rating is able to call off an election and take control of a country under dubious pretenses without sparking off riots in the streets.
