whilst flicking channels on foxtel a few days ago i came across some lame show called Laguna Beach, its rated PG, how this show isnt rated M beats me, im not really into censorship a whole lot but at times i get baffled at certain ratings. I just dont see how a show that used the word 'slut' as many times as it did and the fact all these hoes ( Read more... )

Do kids swear more now than they used to? And if so is this because of more exposure to swearing or a reduction in discipline as swearing becomes more acceptable and parents get more lenient. I think swearing has always been quite commonplace and would have been more so in earlier times if you didn't get your palm slapped with a cane.

The show would probably get a harsher rating on free to air television, but Foxtel seem to have more relaxed rules as it is easier for the parents to monitor and control what their children are exposed to. I haven't looked at it in great detail but it seems you can block shows by rating and also select individual shows you don't wish your children to see.
