wait. but there are beatles CDs, right? so couldn't he have just bought a CD and transferred that CD onto his itunes and hence ipod? and if THAT is illegal, how the heck are we supposed to get music on our ipods????

That's right.

And it's illegal if you transfer music from CD's to your computer.

but then everybody is a criminal. why dont they just walk into people's homes and arrest whole families, aside from the fact that this would be impractical?

Well, considering they are already kind of doing that. You know, suewing grandma's who have never owned a computer..and..babies who can't even type yet...yea.
