Maine needs YOU

A new PPP poll of Maine showed voters completely split on the issue of perserving the state's marriage equality law - 48% to 48%, with few undecided voters. Looking at the data, here's what the pollster says:

Not really. What happened in Arizona was we once successfully beat back a constitutional ammendement banning gay marriage, mostly because it went too far and eliminated anything that gave marriage-like benefits to gay couples and that was a step too far for the voters. The next year it was reintroduced with less draconian language and was passed.

Still, beating back a measure that would simply ensure that gay marriage couldn't happen at some future time (since gay marriage wasn't legal in AZ beforehand) isn't the same as actually winning an affirmative measure to allow gays to marry.
