Been playing Assassin's Creed II. I wonder how much it says about me that my favorite part of the game is that Leonardo da Vinci is a relatively detailed NPC.
I never played the first one so I can't compare, but I've enjoyed it quite a bit. It's an open world game, but what surprises me most is that there have been really no mission related frustrations for me, no quest I have to do like 500 times to finish. Except the racing missions and I just skip those.
The only problem is that Ezio is really, really twitchy. If your finger slips just a millimeter, he ceases running lithely across the rooftops of Florence and instead vaults headfirst into a plaza. Painful and annoying.
My roommate has this game, and I love watching it - it's so pretty! I'll just sit there for hours in the evening watching him play. It's good - he's got the dexterity to control the character really well, and I can help him think through the puzzles and point out details. He kind of laughed when I started doing it - "Who watches someone else play a video game?" After a couple of hours, I'd proved my worth and he enjoyed being able to discuss what was going on. Pretty awesome game, if you ask me!
