Great poem - what a fantastic idea to draw a parallel between the magi and the secret police (and it sounds a little blasphemous in ultra Catholic Poland; although of course this must be a poem from the good old Communist days)

Isn't it fantastic? I can't remember what year it was written.

I'm a big fan of art that draws on religious themes, but is primarily secular.

This is my favorite part:

All that's missing is myrrh, you'll think half-consciously--
while with your heel you're shoving under the couch the book they mustn't find--
what is this myrrh, anyway,

It's pretty amazing, how much tension this short poem is able to build.

Thanks for sharing. I would have never read this without you posting it. I love it when you post poems.

My favorite part is the last three lines. They make me tear up.

I hardly ever post poems these days. But I'm glad you liked it!

I think our favorite parts...relect each of us.

I think you should post poems more often.
