Huh. Now I'm a bit more intrigued. As I think I previously commented I have not read the Vampire Diaries but I intended to try out the show anyway because of my love for vampires. But now that I know more of the story I am slightly more interested. I hadn't realized there was a reincarnation theme in it. Considering it's a YA series it will be interesting to see where they take it. I'm not sure they even know yet. Have you seen the banners for it? Most of them are pretty tame and normal but there's one that's well...quite racy.
I haven't seen many of the posters, yet, but I image that the CW will make the show fairly racy. Most of their shows tend to contain a lot of sex, or at least a lot of sexual tension. Charmed was a CW show, I think. And, Gossip Girl. I love how risque "True Blood" is, but I kind of like the whole smoldering and full of tension that is NOT chaste thing, too. The extended previews look good. Several graveyard scenes and some beautifully gothy homes....It seems to show the romantic side of vampires in the same way that "True Blood" goes for the raunchy, gory aspects. I did like the one poster with Elena, Stefan, Damon, a crow, a tree and some grass. I liked that one -- very moody and atmospheric. Is this the one you mean: http://ontheflix.com/2009/07/27/new-cw-vampire-diaries-poster-takes-it-to-the-grass/... )
