Memorial for My Kitty

May 25, 2009 12:30

It is a very sad day for me today. My cat, Dakota, has not been well for the last month and today I made the decision to euthanize her. I got her from a shelter when she was 3 years old and she's been with me these past 13 years, keeping me and my dogs in line. *grin* She was the best of cats, and of friends and I will miss her terribly.

Oh, Emm, I'm so sorry. I know how hard it is to lose a pet, because they are always so much more than that. They are friends, family, constant love. I'm sending you lots of hugs. ***hugs***

Thank you very much, Jai. I know you know what I'm going through and your hugs are very much appreciated. I started noticing that Dakota wasn't her usual, sparkling self about a month ago. I gave her some good old fashioned TLC for a couple weeks, hoping she would snap out of whatever had a hold of her, but she didn't. Then about a week ago, I decided that I needed to take her to the vet, but chickened out and couldn't take her (fearing the worst). Then this past weekend there was no more denying it ( ... )

Thank you for your hugs, I definitely can use them. I am quite devasted by this loss. As much as she was a pet, she was also a member of my family, and I'll mourn her like I would any other.

Thank you again for your thoughts and hugs. *hugs back*

Thank you, Jenny. They do become such a big part of our lives. They're sneaky that way. *smiles* I miss Dakota terribly, but I know that she was saved from a painful death. I had 13 terrific years with my little friend and I'll always remember her as the calm, accepting little companion that she was.

Thanks for your hugs and your thoughts, they are very much needed and appreciated. *hugs*

I am so sorry for your loss Em. I know how hard it is to lose a pet. They become a member of your family and attach themselves to your heart, often before you know it. I'm sure Dakota is bringing much joy to the angels in heaven. I'm thinking about you. Many hugs, Tracy
