You never take me nice places anymore, baby

So, Alan unexpectedly happened. The boy is good at blindsiding people, you know? This mix is not The Mix I would like to give this particular Magnificent Bastard, it's created on the carcass of a discarded general Demon's Lexicon mix and I think focuses mostly on the ambiguity of Alan's persona, the jagged edges underneath the neat stitching, the ( Read more... )

The name alone ripped my heart out. Damn.
I only know one song from here, I think, so I'm looking forward to listening to the rest, because lyrics are very cool(the shadow that's caught in the hollow of your cheekbone, hot damn). And irony, ohhh it's there alright, but I want to hear the tunes first.

PS. I love Elizabeth's mix to tears too, especially the last two songs you mentioned and Twin Heart. But that doesn't mean the world should live much longer without your mixed devoted to the Magnificent Bastard that this boy is (squee, Dasha+tvtropes!), so PLS make that epic one too \o/

I am very glad you like the name XD I wanted to do some play on the whole 'heart enough to make a home for a demon' but this one just came naturally out of the lyrics so I had to keep it.

We'll see how it goes, but I hope you enjoy this one too - come and tell me when you've had a listen *puppy eyesies*

Alan!!

Going by the lyrics excerpts, I especially like "Drink You Pretty" (and not just for the "lie to me" line). And the cover/fancasting is great!

It gives me all the feelings that you like that song, because it's the one I worried most about the choice being misunderstood, but to me it's just such an accurate portrayal of how he sees himself in relation to the rest of the world in his darker moments and well, the 'lie to me' line doesn't hurt.

re: fancasting - thank god for that one movie where Cumberbatch looks young enough, casual enough, bespectacled enough XD NOne of the other gingers quite clear the last two requirements, sadly.

It's very pathologically self-deprecating Alan to me too, yes!

And I never would've thought of Cumberbatch (even ginger) as a fancasting for Alan, but turns out he's just perfect, at least in that picture you found. New mental image forever, pretty much.

Yes, and to me this is one of his more formative traits. Oh Alan, we love you, Alan *sobs*

this was a lovely, lovely mix; i love the way it flows together, and the lyrics!

Get beyond the rocks, with just cut-feet
But your heart still beats
And we all like that, don't we?

ah yes, yes.

(also, as a bandom refugee, i appreciate a pete wentz inclusion :P)

Thank you! I'm very pleased you think it does.

I'm a bit of a late arrival to FOB, and, having never been in the bandom, I just stick the songs where they fit :P
