Annual books read summary

Dec 31, 2013 23:22

I read 30 books this year (last year’s total was 59). The complete list is Here

I previously talked about some of the reasons I read so much less this year, so let's just look at the stats for what I did

8, were acquired secondhand
8, were purchased new
6, were Arc’s, Giveaways or Gifts
5, were from the library
2, were Beta-reading
1, was a digital books
0, were re-read

I actually acquired more books than I read in 2013

I have started tracking the gender of the authors I am reading
Of the 30 Books, 16 were written by male authors, 14 were written by female authors, however I only read 22 different authors and of those 12 were female and 10 were male (I count Mira Grant and Seanan McGuire as 1 author in this case).

I read almost 2/3 Fantasy and roughly 1/3 SF

19, were Fantasy (2 “Period Fantasy”, 6 “Urban Fantasy”, 2 “YA”)
9, were Science Fiction (6 "Space Opera", 1 “Post-Apocalyptic”)
2 were “Superhero” books which contained both Fantasy and Science Fiction elements.

My reading was even more contemporary than last year, all of it was written this century
