Incest is a common theme in Japanese stories. I once heard it was because teenagers are discouraged from having relationships in school and extra curricular events as well as being very shy in general due to the culture. Having a crushes on a cousin is common. I don't know if this is really true since I haven't lived in a japanese family and it's hard to tell what people are thinking. In any case, there is a reason we anti-bond with our siblings and parents in our teen years. That's probably why incest is abnormal and just feels wrong. Plus it's usually older siblings taking advantage of younger kids which falls under molestation and makes me feel violent.
