I've got another original lyrical piece to share with all of you. This one was inspired by a recent turn of events that has got me reservedly hopeful.



Options

Met you one evening,
A dinner with friends.
Someone had left me,
My heart on the mend.
It wasn’t too easy,
My defenses were high.
But a harmless flirt,
Had caught my eye.

You say you’re unready,
To pursue anyone.
But I’m coming for you,
Please don’t stop what’s begun.

We’re faced in this life with options to choose.
Some right and some wrong, with so much to lose.
The heart follows love, the question is who,
Might come to save us from out of the blue.

We kept talking
Long into the night
Fires long dormant
Were starting to light.
I wasn’t sure then
But I’m pretty sure now
We should give this a try
Just tell me how.

You’re against rushing in
I must say I agree
But I can’t just deny
The possibilities.

We’re faced in this life with options to choose.
Some right and some wrong, with so much to lose.
The heart follows love, the question is who,
Might come to save us from out of the blue.

And now it’s time for us to sleep,
You invite me in so casually.
Holding me close, your body warm.
I can’t wait to see you in the morn.
