So... guns, right?

Everyone and their grandmother's false teeth seem to be weighing in on gun control ~the hell again~ in the wake of the whole Colorado thing, and I guess I've got my own take, though you'll probably hear everything I have to say from a whole bunch of other sources. And though I ~hope~ I don't draw any aggro, I know people tend to get defensive about ( Read more... )

I guess I fall into the "pro gun" category for a few reasons. I read all of your points and I actually do agree with 99% of what you say, both for and against. (With that -1% bearing in mind that moving to a better neighborhood = probably costs more = not in the budget for many low income families, so not a super realistic expectation for people who fall into that category ( ... )

Danke for the compliments. ^_^ The only proper way to tackle a subject is from a balanced point of view.

Also, while I admit I haven't crunched the numbers, it's not impossible that buying ~several~ different firearms plus ammo and (hopefully) a locking cabinet for storage might approach or even equal the cost of moving to a place that's safer than wherever you might be.

That said, I do hope no fur cons ever get attacked, that would be some colossal suckage. Or any convention, for that matter.

I'm very pro-gun but I do enjoy your other commentor's response with the image. LOL that's a great image. ^.^

I honestly wouldn't mind, however, restrictions on military grade (and I thought there WERE restrictions anyhow, but what do I know - I just know that my military friends seem to think that there are restrictions unless you are IN the military ...) weapons. After all, you really really shouldn't NEED one of those. Really.

I prefer myself, revolvers and lever-actions. Things that you have to be mechanically intelligent to load and use. And they are fun.

I also my self practice using my guns so that I can have good aim. I don't think I would ever want to actually kill a human being. However, I am ok with a bit of maiming if they're attempting to harm myself or my loved ones (including cats). A shot in the foot or the arm should distract a criminal long enough for me to call the police, imho.
