Indestructible beauty

Neither suffering, nor premature death, nor the profanation of his corpse by the fanatics of the glorious French Revolution, nor 365 years affected him. I used to think the portraits of him were flattering lies, until I saw his real face. They did him justice :)

You mean his skull is lurking around somewhere for people to see and touch. What shame he cannot ret in peace.

No, it isn´t. His head was stolen during the revolution, then was missing for over 100 years until the descendants of the one who´d kept it hidden returned it. Then, in 1895, historian Gabriel Hanotaux examined it, photographed it (it´s the image you see), then had it re-buried together with the body in a secret place within the original building as per the Cardinal´s wishes, but not inside the original tomb, which is now empty. Very few people know where he is, even fewer are allowed inside the chapel at all. He´s been undisturbed since.

The Kafka one? Oh yes, it was a great help! it was actually a kind of portal to several essays and studies (and some very good English versions of a few of the tales); thank you very much!!

Quite, but I won´t be online on the 4th (so I posted ahead) though I´ll stay up reading his memoirs.

Sends greetings for your very special day but most curious indeed about the sudden X rating of the Bat's journal. Every single entry is hidden behind an LJ cut posting a warning about offensive content
So what evil atrocities did you commit to attract such censorship? *Eyes the evil orange flags*. Is this some special feature introduced by Vladimir Putin or some evil Ukrainian Overlords?

Just wait till they see Izzie's piccie of our newest pet piggie!

PS Is Izzie the only critter who thinks that the Cardinal in this piccie bears an uncanny resemblence to a certain ring loving sushi eating creature?

My journal is X-rated?

HAHAHAHAHAH!

(translation: I have no clue, but I seldom post profanity, obscenity, or anything even mildly offensive. Unless, of course, undying devotion for the Cardinal, Hans Küng, Hans Blix and Jean Ziegler etc. and occasional Warwhore -bashing qualifies as virtual WMD. Or else my Prussian demigod friend gracing my default page *points at current default icon*. I have really no clue why Lj X-rates this bland stuff. Guess that conundrum merits a post of its own. But not now, I´m deeply in Cardinalism and don´t want to sully the day with paltry Lj-isms.)

What pet piggie, Precioussss?

You didn´t see my real virtual batcave, the one before the whole D-x site crashed along with all diaries therein. That was a spiky merrily poisonous Horn-tail swishing indeed. I miss it very, very much ( ... )
