Suikoden IV's ending, and the characters involved.
Warning, mucho spoilage, and LJ cut for your protection!
Okay, Suikoden IV's ending is a bit confusing, and it kinda cheesed me off. Not so much what happens, but the way the poor hero character is treated.
Now, to set the background for this rant, let me go back a bit in the game.
The Hero has the suckiest True Rune yet, the Rune of Punishment. This sucker is pretty decent as an attack rune, but it also hurts your hero with each use, and it's slowly eating away at his life. And if he dies, it'll latch on to the next available warm body...o0;
Anyway, he's falsely accused of murdering his superior early in the game, and none of his friends even TRY to defend him as he's exiled off the island, with no food or water. Sure, two of them make up for it by tagging along, but still...
And when he eventually returns, almost NOBODY in the ENTIRE community, much less his friends, even really apologize for it. They just constantly ask him, "So, did you do it?".
And in the end, when he uses the power of the rune to save all their butts, and collapses, they kick him out to sea in a lifeboat, hoping the damn thing won't latch on to one of them. So, there he is, the saviour of the island nations, leader of the Suikoden IV army, floating alone in a lifeboat, in the middle of the ocean, watching his friends sail off, oblivious to the fact he DIDN'T die.
Geez, some gratitude.
Oh well...this was the weakest story, Suikoden wise, to me..so..bah. I expected as much from these people. But I still loved it, i've loved all the Suikoden games. ^^;
Now that I got THAT off my chest..*sigh*..later guys. ^^;
