Grammar?

I'm all about evolution of language. Don't get me wrong. I'm actually becoming okay with the phrase "begs the question" to be a literal statement meaning "leads to the question" instead of its original meaning having to do with a logical fallacy. I'm okay with Alanis Morissette's definition of ironic. I'm even okay with the words "Irregardless ( Read more... )

I've been guilty of this one. :( In my own case, I have strong memories from childhood of teachers always correcting folks to get them to say "you and I" instead of "you and me", but it was either no matter the context or at best without the context explained.

I didn't actually hear the simple idea of just removing 'you and' to tell the difference until I was in my senior year at UCSC, but it is difficult to break bad grammar habits after so many years.
