Not really a surprise and not sure what to do with it.

Some I'm going through old youtube subscriptions with the intent of paring it down a little and I run across one member w. asperger's who mentions some online tests. Something I never considered before. Amazing the talent I have for overlooking the obvious. Anyway, they did suggest what I already suspected. I am a good candidate to be an aspie:

I always tend to take this sort of thing with a *huge* grain of salt. It a test is administered by a qualified professional, there are generally nuances specific to you as an individual that can affect how they diagnose you. On-line tests look at a set of self reported behaviors, and make broad judgments based on that. It's not even clear how valid the sources, and hence the test itself, is.

I don't think quizzes like this are *bad* per se, but I do think in the absence of a professional diagnosis and/or rigorous research if one is qualified to do that sort of research, the results of a test like this are specious at best and completely misleading at worst.

TL;DR: I wouldn't worry about it; there's no way to really tell how valid these tests results are.

I'm pretty sure it's an accurate representation I am familiar with this and other conditions in the same family. A good professional (not just qualified) will check against those other conditions. However, in my experience all the professionals I have seen not be trusted to measure subtle nuances as that was an opening for them to project their personal prejudices.

It's all a moot point of course. Over the years I've learned the advantages and limits of my mind and developed compensating strategies. I just found it interesting to find online confirmation of something I've been aware of for years.

I can post the explanations of hunting and talent from the pdf if you like. You could also take the test yourself for fun.

I've actually developed plenty of copying strategies over the decades. Some I got from various psychology and self-help books. Some I developed on my own.
