035. Blind, Heechul/Shiwon

Try to believe.

For Heechul, it was simply the lack of feeling the need to believe in something, someone.
For Siwon, it was pure blindness.
He didn't quite understand how one could not praise and worship the Holy Father who had given the human so many wonderful things; what's more, without God the human race wouldn't even exist at all. It was just obvious for him to aknowledge God's presence and he didn't even try to ever question it.
Heechul did.

The elder didn't need a god in his life since he knew that he could only rely on himself to make it through all the years; where was this 'God' when he needed help? How could he trust him when he wasn't even sure he existed? Siwon always told him that this is exactly what faith is about - to believe and to love, even if you cannot see or meet him. But Heechul couldn't find strength and advice in something or someone who was completely untouchable.

Then his fellow members got into a car accident.
Heechul cried a lot when that happened, especially because of Kyuhyun's bad condition; the youngest member was lying there on the filthy hospital bed, being in a deep coma. No one knew if he would survive. Even the always-so-confident Heechul had to admit that he was hopeless about the situation and couldn't do a thing about it.

He was sitting in front of Kyuhyun's hospital room, staring blankly ahead, hearing the other member's sobs and desperate cries all around, making him feel dizzy and lost in the situation. That's when he felt someone sitting down onto the seat next to him and a calm voice mumbled:
"Pray for him, Heechul. That's the only thing we can do for him right now. Our tears won't bring us, or him, any further."

"And you really think prayers will?" the older one answered with a smirk hosting on his lips and he shook his head. "Siwon, everything's up to the doctors now. And... we have to hope for good luck, I guess."
"You call it luck. I call it faith. It's basically the same, though unlike you, I know who is giving it to us."

Siwon's reply kind of startled Heechul, who looked up at him but had to notice that the latter was already gone. He frowned slightly, being annoyed of the way the member decided to treat him, though the said words still resounded in his mind, like an echo.
Was it really the same?

That was the moment the door got loudly slammed open and a crying Sungmin ran out of the room, a bright smile showing up on his face despite the tears.
"He woke up!"
Every single pair of feet jumped up from the seats towards the hospital room, shouting and crying and laughing and cheering towards the maknae who they had been worried to lose so much.

Siwon fell on his knees and loudly thanked God for bringing them their beloved friend back, Heechul however still didn't know if it was just a plaything of fate or really a gift from heaven. But when he looked at the pale and sick but at the same time so happy little smile on Kyuhyun's lips, at the members who were literally jumping around the bed in joy and being so loud that they would for sure wake the whole hospital up, at Leeteuk who scolded everyone for the tumult (since Kyuhyun needed a lot of peace and calmness at that moment) but was still being just as cheerful as them - he couldn't help but think that maybe, maybe there was just a tiny possibility that this wasn't only purely coincidental to happen.

He would never admit it to Siwon though, he was too proud to do so. He would always remain the blind one to him.
