Anime Cons

So I've already been to one of these (Animazement in Raleigh, NC) but I'm kinda curious who all usually goes to cons.  I'm supposed to be going to AWA in a month, and I'm not really sure what to expect!  I'm not sure if I should be excited or apprehensive, seeing as I've only been to one before

I used to go to one or two a year, but I'm more or less done with them now. I've been very disappointed with the last two or three I've gone to. My big draw anymore is the dealers' room. If I could drop about 50 pounds, I might cosplay again.
