I found a flyer on who is actually supposed to be at the music event! I also found out it has a name, Austin Electronic Festival.

I bought a 4 day pass to see a bunch of electronic Bands/DJs play. Of all the people playing, I've only heard of two groups: The Crystal Method(Saturday), and Infected Mushroom(Today!).

A quick update: I'm looking at buying a house in the Austin area. I've seen two good houses so far, and now I need to get my mortgage ducks in a row.

After a lively discussion about landscape vs. portrait orientation, I decided to try rotating my LCDs to portrait. I'm using the nvidia binary driver in linux. I had to add 'Option "RandRRotation" "on"' to my video card device section in xorg.conf, and then restart my X server. I now have it download a file (named after the current date) from my desktop and read it out loud for my schedule.

I think that's all the features I'll do for now. I plan to take a picture of it and capture the audio and make a youtube of it, so everyone can see it.

This year, I asked for a week on the Oregon or Washington coastline in the spring or summer. The week exchange peeps booked the week of May 9 - May 16 in the tiny town of Copalis Beach, WA for me. I got my wireless working (had to disable the prism54 driver, load the isl3886 firmware and use the p54pci driver to get WPA). With that, I have internet access on my clock. I setup NTP sync and it downloads the weather forecast from Google (which provides an XML file ( Read more... )

SEA-ME-WE 4 and FLAG are both fiber optic cables that run from Europe to Asia. They are mostly under water, with runs across land when they have to.
