I watched that clip in total awe of those costumes. I always thought I'd want to do "the fat one", only because it's so hard to find a character that fits the physique!! You're too small for her, BUT I know you will still look FABULOUS.
I think we're about the same size, actually, but the actress is in much better shape than me. :)
I'm going to get the 2-disc version of the movie (I don't currently have it on DVD) because I've read there's a feature on it which has the can-can without all the crazy jump cuts, and maybe some still pictures. That would be VERY HELPFUL.
lizzyhamham is going to do one for D*C also... Juno (the one with the wings)
I thought of that, but I don't think it would work because it would go through the mesh and not have that "solid" quality, if that makes any sense. I also thought I might just sew black sequins on it.
Stuff like this is why doing movie costumes intimidates me so much. Because the thing exists, and there IS reference, even if you might never be able to see it properly, it's out there. I'd just be terrified that I'd throw all this time and energy into guesswork and then the thing will go on tour the month after I wear it and show me how wrong I was. Gah.
But I look forward to seeing it! I won't promise not to count your ruffles, though.
Yeah, I am not going for screen accurate here, because I won't be able to find that dotted mesh, and probably not the exact colors. I'm going for "close enough." Or as a friend of mine used to say, "Good is good, done is better."
I know how that feels. A couple of days before competing Mata Hari at Costume-con, I found a reference I'd never seen before that showed a whole part of her skirt decorations I was missing (the previous photos had it twisted so I couldn't see them). -_-'
